Our Chimpanzee Sanctuary is Now Fully Independent! Almost two decades ago, we rescued our first chimpanzees and brought them into our beautiful sanctuary deep in the heart of Cameroon's Mbargue Forest. After rescuing 100 great ape orphans, our beloved sanctuary in Africa has blossomed into its own independent charitable organization. As of January 1, 2019, the Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue formerly known as IDA Africa is now fully independent! READ MORE

Knoxville Passes Ordinance to Save Thousands of Cats Yearly. The Knoxville City Council voted on Tuesday, January 15, to approve a proposed trap-neuter-return ordinance for community cats. In Hangberg, a desperately poor slum in South Africa, that is a cesspool of crime, drugs and criminal gangs, a mother and her seven beautiful puppies desperately needed our help. Lucky Ducky: Watch This Tiny Rescued Duckling's Very First Swim. A fluffy baby duck named Herman was confined all alone to a cramped, filthy cage. PETA fieldworkers came to his rescue, and now, he gets to swim every day with other ducks, including his best buddy, Silver, and two others rescued by PETA, Harry and Houdini. See Herman Now.

Hangberg

Poor Shelley and her puppies were dumped by a callous owner who didn’t care if they lived or died. Our team rescued them.
Hangberg
Please help us feed, treat and care for the seven precious pups and their hungry mother.

NFA has made huge progress in Hangberg, feeding and medically treating street dogs and educating youngsters about kindness to animals. So far, we have managed to help more than 600 street dogs.

But there is still so much to do. The people of Hangberg are mostly unemployed, uneducated and poor. They don’t know how to look after dogs so when things get tough their “solution” is to dump the animals.

An hour after we rescued Shelley and her family, we rescued five more dogs, who needed urgent medical treatment for mange and fleas. All the dogs in Hangberg depend on help from animal lovers like you because without that help, there’s nothing but heartbreak and death in their future.

An important priority is a spay and neuter program, so we can continue with our efforts to reduce the street dog population.
