Urge 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' Company to End Partnership With SeaWorld

SeaWorld was once named one of the most hated brands in America, so why is a Christmas classic partnering with the abusement park? Character Arts, the company that manages the rights to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, is partners with SeaWorld—which means that the disgraced park can use the iconic characters from the children's favorite to lure kids through the gates of its cruel facilities.

Since the release of the documentary Blackfish—which exposed the park's abuse of animals to the public—SeaWorld has eliminated more than 1,100 positions, and several high-ranking executives, including two CEOs, have left. The company and one of those former CEOs, Jim Atchison, agreed to pay $5 million to settle the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's charges that the business misled investors about the negative impact that Blackfish was having on it. It's also facing a shareholders' class-action lawsuit, a consumer lawsuit, and a criminal investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Three orcas died at SeaWorld in 2017—including Tilikum—the "star" of Blackfish, who passed away after being confined to a concrete prison for 33 years. In 2016, faced with plunging stock prices and impending state and federal legislation to ban orca breeding, the company announced an end to its sordid program for breeding these animals, but this half-measure does nothing for the 21 orcas who will continue to suffer in tiny tanks for decades. And it does nothing for the other dolphins and whales who are still bred—sometimes forcibly after being drugged—and who endure much of the same suffering as orcas.

SeaWorld must open its tanks and release these long-suffering animals to seaside sanctuaries—where they can live in large areas of the ocean while benefiting from human care for as long as necessary—so that they can finally have some semblance of a natural life, outside prison-like tanks.

Please urge Character Arts to end its partnership with SeaWorld and join the long list of companies that have already severed ties with the sinking brand.
Trump's Seismic Blasting Plan Will Injure and Kill Thousands of Whales and Dolphins

BREAKING: President Trump just approved seismic blasting off the Atlantic coast that could harm tens of thousands whales, dolphins, and other marine mammals. This is all part of the Trump administration's plan to open up all U.S. waters to more damaging offshore drilling for oil and gas.

The plan, introduced by Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, would radically expand offshore drilling into new areas of the Atlantic, Arctic, Gulf of Mexico and Pacific waters. Specifically, Zinke stated that under a new 5-year plan, over 90 percent of the U.S. coasts would be open to oil drilling by 2019.

Seismic blasting severely harms marine life, coastal economies, and our public health. Sign the petition telling the Department of Interior NOT to allow dangerous seismic testing off the Atlantic Coast.

SeaQuest Aquarium Openly Neglects and Abuses Animals, But Still Might Get a New Location
Failed inspections. Birds with no access to food or water. Illegally imported sloths and capybaras. Animals stored in basements. Eels, stingrays and octopuses dead from mismanaged waters.

Those are just some of the horrors from SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium's checkered past. Unfortunately, despite ample evidence of cruelty and neglect at various SeaQuest locations across the country, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is poised to open a new location at The Galleria mall.

But it's not too late to stop it! Please sign this petition urging the city of Fort Lauderdale to deny SeaQuest's plans and prevent them from opening a new location.
New Trip: Nat Hab's Gray Whale Base Camp. Join President Ben Bressler for a 35th Anniversary Adventure
You probably know I’ll find any excuse to pursue an exciting nature adventure. Turning 35 seems a great reason! Well, okay, so I’m not 35. Not even close. But Natural Habitat Adventures will be 35 soon, and that’s reason to celebrate with a NEW TRIP!

And I’d like to invite you to join me on this adventure with some of the most astounding creatures on the planet: the gray whales of Baja.

Click Here to See Our Baja Whale Base Camp Adventure

From March 8-13, 2019, I’ll be taking a group of nature enthusiasts to mingle with 30-ton gray whales that make their winter home in the sheltered lagoons on Baja’s Pacific coast. It’s the culmination of their annual passage from Alaska to Mexico, the longest mammal migration on Earth.

But this is no ordinary whale-watching trip.

We’ll be fully immersed in the whales’ realm from our base camp in Magdalena Bay -- our floating lodge is actually the National Geographic Sea Bird, a small luxury expedition ship that serves as our mobile adventure platform.

We’ll get remarkably close to the whales from open motorized skiffs. We may see them breach and spy-hop, and witness mating behavior. We may even encounter an inquisitive mother pushing her calf up alongside our boat, within arm’s reach!

Along with whale watching, we'll explore by kayak and on foot, investigating the extensive mangrove habitat and sand dunes. Each day, you'll learn from our naturalist expedition staff and special guest Court Whelan, PhD, who is both a biologist and Nat Hab's director of sustainability and conservation travel.

This is a one-time opportunity, the Sea Bird is a small ship, and our exclusive charter will fill quickly. Call 800-543-8917 to join me in Mexico in March!

You may have been whale watching before, but trust me -- nothing compares to the proximity you’ll have on our Baja base camp adventure! Call 800-543-8917 to travel with me on this special departure.
