Los Angeles Rams win their best game of the year so far vs the Seahawks last night in Seattle!

USP NFL: LOS ANGELES RAMS AT SEATTLE SEAHAWKS S FBN SEA LAR USA WA
You are probably calling me a bit nutty for saying that comment in the headline but think about yesterday's win.

They played though some serious adversity to win.

And, the Seahawks played amazingly to the point that I think they will do well this year. I think they will do way better than I anticipated going into this game (I was in hope of a total blow out and that was the last thing we got yesterday).

To win a Super Bowl, teams not only need to be on all full cylinders going through the playoffs and during playoff time, they also need to get through adversity to prove its' depth.

When Brandon Crooks went out with concussion protocols (and now we know he did have a concussion), I assumed he would come back into the game. He went out early and he stayed out the entire game.

I had no clue that Cooper Kupp had gone out because of the same issue until the network showed that replay we all saw when he hit his head on the ground.

They both suffered concussions and the rookie Josh Reynolds came up with two big plays and then some to carry that load.

He had a great day.

The Tight Ends also had big plays.

Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett had some key catches throughout the game.

Robert Woods had five catches for 92 yards including sick run after the catch for a huge play downfield.

Cooks was hurt late in the second quarter when he was hit by Tedric Thompson as he came down field after the catch. It was a hard hit and he was motionless for a few seconds. The hit was with Thompson's shoulder, but there was some helmet impact and Cooks appeared to be immediately knocked out. He jogged off the field on his own but was ruled out early in the second half. You could see that Thompson was clearly concerned. Crooks mouthed to him that he was alright which was good to see.

Kupp was also diagnosed with a concussion but again, no one saw it. He hit his head on the ground after a tackle.

Neither returned and I am not sure what the status is with each of them yet or as of this AM.

Next, Greg 'The Leg' Zuerlein is down and in a sense and even though he did miss an extra point, Cairo Santos atoned for missing it by kicking home the 39 yard field goal winner with 6:05 remaining in the game. That gave the team their 33-31 lead and that is exactly how it ended. Santos though I must admit looked very solid on every kick, except for that one missed extra point blunder where he just basically missed the ball. It knuckled way low and way right from the TV's point of view.

And then the Defense kicked in big time by picking up the slack for a couple of missed big plays by Marcus Peters in the defense back field. Russell Wilson beat the Rams corner back a few times for those big plays yesterday.

As a matter of fact, Wilson threw for three touchdowns yesterday.

That opened up the run game for the Seahawks or vice verse because this Chris Carson ran for more than 100 yards (116 total) again and for the third straight game. Seattle finished with 190 yards on the ground, including 68 yard touchdown by the other part of that running back tandem in Seattle, Mike Davis.

My point is on Defense, others picked up the slack like when a particular holding call put the Seahawks out of field goal range late in the game, Cory Littleton jumped upward to deflect the ball on a big 3rd down play.

I thought Marc Barron had a great game.

And, setting aside some wrestling move used when Troy Hill tackled someone, the D-Backs did well. Peters also did well but he took some chances and they took advantage of it.

Therefore and overall, this is the second week in a row where the Defense came up huge at the end of the game.

That is what we need and that is why I am so happy today. The D came up big when they had to do it and honestly, it was NOT even close.

“It seems like that every week they always step up when we need them,” quarterback Jared Goff said. “I’m sure they would have liked to do some different things as far as as many points as [Seattle] scored, but again, it’s just a team game. We when needed a stop, they got the stop.”

Aaron Donald played ferocious with such huge power and my defense star again is Ndamukong Suh.

Michael Brockers also had a big play or two.

“Our defense was at their best when they had to be,” Rams coach Sean McVay said and like I said above here, I agree!

Overall, they came through with a big 4th down play which you know, we Rams fans have nightmares about how many times Jeff Fisher went on 4th down in his coaching tenure with the Rams. But, I get it and in this case and considering this team, I would say that rather than giving the ball back to Russell Wilson and to Seattle (and in essence depending on the Rams Defense to do their thing and to then depend on John Hekker to get Seattle backed up as most as he could with a punt which in both cases, are great bets for success, but still), I thought we could fall for a couple yards (even though we needed less than one yard and fundamentally, I also feel that he made it passed the first down marker. The placement was such and no one questioned it so neither did I).

And when Jared Goff plowed his body over that marker to convert the fourth and almost 1 yard to go with 1:39 left, he gets up to give a fist bump to the point where I was like "be careful with that arm please".

We could now kneel down for the rest of the game.

There was one point that I noticed some offense guy on the Rams team had approached someone on the D to basically say (by saying it, I mean he yelled to get their you know what together already) that it is now time for them to pick it up and for them to deal; and the Defense did.

The Rams ended with that 33-31 squeaker and in a game that went back n forth many times to keep us at that perfect 5-0 record.

Now the Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs are the ONLY undefeated teams in the NFL today.

Todd Gurley BTW, rushed for three touchdowns, and Goff threw for one touchdown and for a total of 321 yards even with the top two wide receivers going out pretty early because of those concussions.

"That offense has (guts) and we're riding behind them," defense end Michael Brockers said.

"It was all riding on that one play and we got a really, really good jump on them up front," Goff said.

"You need to know that when these games come around, can you finish. That's what we did today," Gurley said.

Rams travel to Denver to play the Broncos next Sunday.
