Global March for Elephants and Rhinos (GMFER), Elephant In The Room, 19 wild elephants moved to Mahasamund, Elephant Pins

Join the Global March for Elephants and Rhinos! Global March for Elephants and Rhinos (GMFER) is a March Against Extinction that demands world leaders take action to stop the poaching of elephants and rhinos and that they work to end the trade in ivory and rhino horn. You might have heard that there are 19 wild elephants who have moved into Mahasamund, Chhattisgarth, an area that has not seen elephants for many, many years. The future of this herd is in peril because of regular conflicts between local people and the wild elephants. To prevent these elephants from being captured or killed, the conflicts between the people and elephants must be contained. We are determined to help these elephants— but to move forward, we need you.

Our plan is to place GPS collars on three of the elephants to track the herd and notify villagers in advance if the elephants are nearby. This will reduce the number of conflicts and human fatalities, and hopefully protect the herd from being killed, captured, or forcibly relocated.

Help us keep them wild, free — and safe.

To begin this project, we need $37,000 to purchase and place the GPS collars and start monitoring. We've currently raised $15,000 and need $22,000 more. We hope to achieve this by September 30 so we can move forward immediately. This herd is at risk, and this is the best shot they have — will you help us give them a chance?
