I cannot believe I need to say the next sentence, but please do not allow Oil Rigs in the 'Canyonlands'

It is one of my favorite places in the world. P_lease help me/us prevent oil rigs from lining the views at Arches and Canyonlands. I even have a picture of it on my Google + and Blogger Page.

These are real consequences that could put these two national #ParksInPeril, but the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) can prevent that by finalizing a strong leasing plan that protects some of Utah's most iconic sites...and you can help!
Since 2012, BLM has worked with the National Park Service, local conservation and recreation groups (including NPCA), and industry representatives to develop a plan for which lands in the Moab area should or should not be developed for oil, gas, and potash. In August, the agency finally released the draft Moab Master Leasing Plan.

BLM's draft plan takes a significant step towards protecting the views that visitors experience from within Arches and Canyonlands national parks. The plan also considers various levels of protections for important park resources, including clean air and water, dark night skies, and natural quiet.
However, this administration needs to go further to prevent damage and ensure these places are no longer #ParksInPeril. The final plan must include clear, consistent, and enforceable requirements for:
  • Maintaining unobstructed expansive views;
  • Limiting impacts to dark night skies;
  • Reducing noise impacts near park boundaries;
  • Avoiding surface disturbance near critical water resources, and;
  • Limiting pollution that can lead to impacts on human health, natural and cultural resources, and clear air in the parks.
Take ActionJoin us in standing up for Arches and Canyonlands! Let the BLM know that now is the time to finalize a plan that includes strong, enforceable protections for the parks. Public comments on the Draft Moab Master Leasing Plan will be accepted through November 23, 2015.

Thank you for speaking up for two of our most treasured national parks.
