Animal testing Weekly Report!

I have good news and bad news.

BAD NEWS: Politicians in the Senate are about to ram through another $2 BILLION pay raise for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). If these big spending Republicans and Democrats get their way, you will pay at least $1 billion for more wasteful, unnecessary and cruel animal experiments.

GOOD NEWS: We have time to stop them in the House. And that's why I'm reaching out to you today.

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT in stopping this huge payout to the government's animal abusers by making a generous, tax-deductible gift that will be matched - dollar-for-dollar - up to $200,000 before our deadline.

Click to help!

It's simple ... to stop taxpayer-funded animal experiments, we must stop wasteful government spending. We must rally more taxpayers and educate House members to take action against this absurd $1 BILLION handover to the animal abusers.

And because winning this fight is so critical, The Greenbaum Foundation will DOUBLE any tax-deductible gift you make from now through midnight on July 31st deadline.

That's right ... every tax-deductible dollar you donate will be DOUBLED - dollar-for-dollar - to help us raise $400,000 to stop taxpayer-funded animal abuse ... once and for all.

Your contribution will help us fight back against this spending hike while giving us the resources we so critically need to:

Uncover more waste ... by developing more hard-hitting investigations. We've already exposed so much abuse on national television and media including US News & World Report, Huffington Post, Fox News Channel, The Examiner, and so many others. But we could be exposing so much more!
Expose more waste by producing campaign-style ads and media exposés to hold politicians accountable for the torture they fund and reveal the fraud to taxpayers; End the Waste by uniting an unprecedented coalition of animal lovers and liberty lovers to cut the senseless waste and abuse that everyone can agree is just plain wrong.

With a national debt of $19 trillion, the last thing Congress needs to be doing is handing over an additional $1 billion so government experimenters can force dogs and primates to run on treadmills until they suffer heart attacks.

It's wasteful. It's wrong. It has to stop. And your critically-needed support, when doubled, will go twice as far in stopping it. But make sure you act today before our midnight deadline on July 31st.

I'm counting on you to help us reach our $200,000 matching grant challenge so that it will become $400,000 in the fight to stop taxpayer-funded animal experiments.

I'm honored to have you with us in this fight that knows no political boundaries and for fighting with us to stop taxpayer-funded animal abuse.

Together we can STOP taxpayer-funded animal experiments. Click to help!

Miley Cyrus Raises Awareness for Animal Testing by Adopting Precious Lab Beagle! The world of animal testing is rife with suffering and cruelty for the defenseless subjects. Most people assume that only rabbits and mice are used for the bulk of tests, but beagles are frequently used as well. In laboratories and testing facilities, these dogs never get the chance to lead the typical life a dog would. Instead of a warm bed and a loving family, lab beagles are subjected to cold, concrete cells and the prodding hands of researchers.

These dogs are favorites of the pharmaceutical industry, used to test the toxicity of different chemicals and compounds. In addition to testing on beagles, some facilities even remove dogs voiceboxes to keep them from making too much noise. Tragically, when dogs are done with their trials, they are usually put down. According to the American Anti-Vivisection Society,  between 70,000 and 75,000 dogs are used for research in the United States each year, and the majority of these animals are beagles. While this is incredibly heartbreaking to learn, the good news is there are many organizations working to put an end to animal testing and give former test subjects a better life. Take Beagle Freedom Project, for example. This awesome organization works to arrange for the release of beagles, and other animals, once their tests are over. Once these animals are free, they help rehabilitate them and find good, loving homes for them. Most recently, they helped rehome one lucky beagle with none other than Miley Cyrus!

Miley Cyrus is a long-time animal lover and has become a vocal advocate for animals of all species. She has a whole gang of rescued animals, recently announced that she went vegan after recognizing the intelligence of a pufferfish, and has spoken out against trophy hunting. Now, Cyrus has taken another noble step for animals in choosing to adopt not just any rescued dog, but a former lab beagle.

Cyrus announced her new adoption on Facebook, writing, “Happy to introduce the newest member of my family Barbie Beagle Freedom Project #stopanimaltesting #donttestonbeagles“

Not only has Barbie gotten a new loving home, but she’s also become an awesome advocate for other beagles and lab animals thanks to her famous mom! We applaud Miley for choosing to adopt a former lab beagle and promoting awareness for the suffering of animals in labs and research facilities. Together we can help make a better future for all animals, where unnecessary testing no longer exists.

Save the Oklahoma University Baboons

Target: University of Oklahoma, Kelly Damphousse, Dean - 100,623 SUPPORTERS of the 110,000 GOAL

Researchers at the University of Oklahoma were investigated multiple times and found to be abusing baboons in their studies. Between 2013 and 2015, at least 51 baboons died in the facility.

Newborn baboons were separated from their mothers just to see how they would react. One USDA inspector found infant baboon enclosures that were so dirty they posed a health risk. And one report found an infant baboon dead on the ground, "partially cannibalized."

Now, University officials are announcing they will shut down their baboon research program - but the safety of these baboons hasn't been guaranteed.

Sign this petition to demand that baboons from the research program are placed at a safe and reputable sanctuary.

These poor animals have endured too much in their pasts at Oklahoma University. Now that the facility is closing its doors, there is hope that the remaining baboons could finally be free from cruelty.

But their safety is nowhere near guaranteed. Oklahoma University has a history of abusing these animals, and we have no guarantee that the primates won't be transferred to other laboratories where their abuse would continue.

Join the call to protect these baboons by signing and sharing this petition. Such cruelty should have been stopped long before but it is never too late to step in and be a voice for the voiceless.
Harvard Medical School – Stop Animal Cruelty in Your Medical Curriculum

Target: John Czajkowski, Administrative Dean at Harvard Medical School (HMS) - 127,284 SUPPORTERS of the 130,000 GOAL

Mice and rats are animals who do not deserve to be stabbed, probed and mutilated. Yet it's still happening at one of America's most prestigious medical schools. Will you help me end this cruelty?

Investigators have documented cases of mice and rats being injected with caustic materials, killed, mutilated and decapitated. And while these animals aren't the most popular, they are still living and breathing creatures who have done nothing to deserve having their torn bodies placed in plastic bags and put in a freezer.

These practices are as needless as they are cruel — other methods can be used to research, teach and teach without violating the life of mice and rats.

Non-animal study methods include neuro-imaging techniques such as computer models and simulations, models based on human cell and tissue cultures, computerized patient-drug databases and virtual drug trials. Non-invasive imaging techniques such as MRIs and CT Scans, stem cell and genetic testing methods along with other possible non-animal procedures can also be used. yet mice and rats remain roughly 95 percent of the animals abused in experiments.

Speak out against needless animal cruelty. Please sign my petition to urge the Harvard Medical School to stop using animals in their testing, labs and study curriculum and instead opt for safer non-animal methods.
