#5/7 Terps Host Northwestern Tuesday

The No. 5/7 Maryland men’s basketball team plays host to Northwestern at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at XFINITY Center.

STORYLINES
• Robert Carter scored a career-high 25 points, Rasheed Sulaimon added a season-best 22 and Maryland bounced back from its first Big Ten loss of the season by breezing past Ohio State 100-65 on Saturday. It was the first time the Terps amassed 100 points in a game since Dec. 5, 2012 vs. UMES (100-68) and the first time they did so in conference play since a double-overtime win at Virginia Tech (104-100) on Feb. 27, 2010.

• Maryland shot 63 percent from the floor against the Buckeyes Saturday. It marked the 11th time this season the Terps have shot above .500 and the third time they shot above .600 (.600 vs. Rhode Island, .674 vs. Saint Francis). The Terps are second in the Big Ten in team field goal percentage (.513). Diamond Stone (.599) and Robert Carter (.577) are fourth and sixth in the conference, respectively.

• Maryland’s 72-59 win at Northwestern on Jan. 2 marked Mark Turgeon’s 350th career win and included his 100th win at Maryland. Rasheed Sulaimon and Melo Trimble combined for 40 points, 14 assists and 14 rebounds in a win at Northwestern. The duo collectively also had three steals and committed just one turnover against the Wildcats.

• With the win over Ohio State Saturday, Maryland is 9-0 following a loss the past two seasons. The last time the Terps lost back-to-back games was against Syracuse and Clemson on Feb. 24 and March 2, respectively, in the 2013-14 campaign.

SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN
• Northwestern fell to Penn State, 71-62, its last time out.

• Bryant McIntosh leads the Northwestern in scoring, averaging 15.8 points and 7.3 assists per game. Tre Demps (14.4 ppg), Alex Olah (12.2 ppg) and Dererk Pardon (10.6 ppg) also average double-figures for the Wildcats.

• Maryland leads the all-time series, 3-1, including three straight. The Terps defeated the Wildcats, 72-59, on Jan. 2 on the road with the help of a combined 40 points, 14 assists and 14 rebounds from Melo Trimble and Rasheed Sulaimon.
