Next Monday- Stand up to coal at City Hall

With global climate negotiations in Paris set to start in two weeks on November 30th, New Yorkers are looking to Governor Cuomo to lead by example and commit to getting the Empire State off of coal. So, exactly one week before negotiations kick off in Paris, we're holding a press conference to demand just that-and you're invited!

On Monday, November 23rd, at 11:00 am on the steps of City Hall, Beyond Coal will be coming together with elected officials from across New York City for a press conference and rally to urge Governor Cuomo to commit to transitioning the New York off coal by the end of the decade.

Join us for this critical press conference, and tell Cuomo to quit coal!

New York's remaining coal plants are polluting, outdated, unprofitable, and unnecessary. And getting off coal is key to reaching New York's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 40% by 2030. So it's critical we show the Governor that there is strong political and grassroots support for a transition away from this dirty energy. Never been to press conference at City Hall?

Thanks for everything you do to protect New York.

Please join PETA and Animal ACTivists of Philly in promoting Fur-Free Friday, the biggest vegan shopping day of the year. Encourage the throngs of holiday shoppers who converge on shopping centers the day after Thanksgiving not only to ditch fur but also to leave wool, leather, down, and angora off their shopping lists. Show others how easy it is to shop vegan this holiday season.

The Naked Truth Honorary Committee members—Pamela Anderson, James Cromwell, Jorja Fox, Chrissie Hynde, and Bill Maher—invite you to a lively afternoon. I'll be giving my perspective on the current trajectory of the animal rights movement and, if my presentations in other cities are anything to go by, I hope to offer controversial, truthful, and thought-provoking commentary. I will share my thoughts with you about animals, our relationship with them, and how that relationship can and should evolve from here. It'll be a great opportunity to celebrate the holidays with others who love animals as much as you do. Bring a friend as an early holiday gift! All proceeds will be dedicated to PETA's work to save elephants, mice, and animals of all sizes in-between.

When:     Sunday, December 13, 2 p.m.

There will be a Q&A session after my talk.
