Zero Tolerance for animal cruelty

In March, Nathan Barber of Alabama allowed his dogs to maul a neighbor’s cat. He even let them out again to maul the suffering cat a second time! And then, Barber did something that still chills me to think about. He heartlessly shot and killed the cat with a pellet gun.
For all of that, Barber received a measly 10 days in jail, which he never served because the sentence was suspended. He paid a fine of $100 plus court costs and walked away.
Would you call that justice?
To you and me, and anyone who cares about animals, a light sentence like this is a slap on the wrist for criminals who beat, torture, or kill animals. Yet this is the kind of sentence animal abusers often receive, even for the worst acts of cruelty.
As a loyal supporter of the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), I know you share my outrage when killers of animals don’t receive the sentences they deserve. It’s time to tell our elected officials that when it comes to animal cruelty: Abuse An Animal—Go To Jail!™
Here’s what you can do right now to help animals:
Please send an urgently needed tax-deductible contribution to the Animal Legal Defense Fund to help us fight for aggressive sentences for animal abusers. Your donation will help support ALDF’s Zero Tolerance for Cruelty program, through which we work with law enforcement and prosecutors nationwide to ensure that in animal abuse cases, the punishment fits the crime.

Can we count on you to help us protect innocent animals? Without ALDF, animals have no voice in our legal system. Help us continue to be their legal advocate. Please make as generous a contribution as you can to the Animal Legal Defense Fund today
Thank you!
