COLLEGE PARK, Md. – As the University of Maryland men’s and women’s basketball teams continue competition on the hardcourt in their respective NCAA Tournaments, it is the University of Maryland as a whole that has already advanced to the Sweet 16 of the SaveOnEnergy.com March Mania Bracket.

On a mission to crown the “Nation’s Greenest University,” SaveOnEnergy.com has tabbed the University of Maryland as the number one overall seed based on the sustainability efforts of both the University and the XFINITY Center.

 The XFINITY Center’s conscientious sustainability efforts make it a clear choice as the nation’s favorite, as it has a 90 percent waste diversion rate and features more than three quarters of new construction that is LEED-certified.

 Maryland takes on the University of Kansas in the Sweet 16 on March 24, with a matchup against former conference rival Duke looming in the Elite Eight on March 25.
