In
observance of World Water Day, PETA Germany placed this aqueous installation on
the sidewalk of Berlin'sPotsdamer Platz to let people know that it takes over
1,000 gallons of water to produce just one steak.
Between irrigating the
crops that farmed animals eat, providing billions of animals with drinking water
each year, and washing away the filth in factory farms, transport trucks, and
slaughterhouses, the farmed-animal industry places a tremendous strain on our
water supply. Nearly half of all the water used in the United States goes toward
raising animals for food.

so that they can't respond and comfort their frightened babies when they cry
out, cling to, and frantically try to revive them.
