The objective of our lawsuit is to finally bring an end to Kiko's unjust imprisonment and secure his freedom to live with dozens of other chimpanzees in a warm South Florida sanctuary—where he belongs.
Recognizing how important it is for Kiko to live freely
with others of his kind, a generous anonymous donor has pledged to match every
dollar you give (up to $10,000) to save Kiko. So if you give $25 today, it automatically becomes $50—immediately
doubling your impact—but only if you contribute before the urgent deadline of
midnight, March 31st.
Kiko, who is 26 years old and partially deaf, lives at the home of his "owner" in New York State. He is at times locked in a cage or, as you can see, forced to wear a chain and padlock around his neck. For a chimpanzee, this kind of life is morally wrong—and it should be legally wrong, too.
That's why I just instructed my team to launch Kiko's Fund: a special new tax-deductible fund to help cover the costs of securing Kiko's freedom. We're facing a critical goal of raising at least $20,000 for Kiko's Fund by midnight, March 31st. Will you help him?
Please follow this link to rush an immediate tax-deductible contribution of $25 or even $50 to help us reach this goal. There's no limit to what you can give and every dollar you contribute is fully tax-deductible.
Last month, an intermediate appellate court ruled that Kiko could not use habeas corpus to move from a cage to a sanctuary because such a move changes only "the conditions of confinement rather than the confinement itself." Well, this ruling ignores numerous cases in which human petitioners did just that—which is why our legal team has already filed a motion for permission to appeal to New York's highest court, the Court of Appeals.
A victory in this case—one of the first of its kind—is not only vital for Kiko himself, but also has the potential to set a precedent for great apes living in captivity all over the world.
So will you help us raise these critical funds to secure Kiko's freedom by making a tax-deductible contribution of $25 or even $50 to Kiko's Fund before the deadline?
As one columnist recently noted, it "could mean that medical and other testing on live great apes would come to an end ... It may even make it impossible to keep chimps in captivity in zoos and circuses."
Remember: the NhRP is funded solely through your generosity, and that is why your support for Kiko is needed now more than ever.
We'll see you in court!

P.S. Kiko the chimpanzee needs your help—and he needs it now. The NhRP must raise an additional $20,000 for Kiko's Fund to cover the cost of his critical appeal. For a limited time, a generous donor has stepped forward to match each dollar you give today for Kiko's appeal to double the impact of Kiko's Fund. So will you follow this link to make an urgent donation of $25 or even $50 before Kiko's March 31st deadline? Your support will make all the difference—please don't delay!
Thank you
