Happy Friday's Morning (Joe) Recap!

On the show is Michael Hayden, Robbie Myer, Dylan Ratigan, Mark Halperin, Mike Barnicle, Mark Morial, Michael CrowleyIan Bremmer, Joy Ann Ried, Mike Allen, Maria Contreras-Sweet, Michelle Caruso Carreras, Natalie Jeresko, Peter Alexander, Ayman Mohyeldin along with Amy Holmes is on again and there is no Mika today.

Its Friday (Finally) ad Maryland plays later on today at 440PM. Two pretty big losses yesterday and then two or three more surprises (UCLA, etc.) too. I think Maryland is prepared today.

Anyway, the lead story is about Netanyahu basically lying to win his election on Tuesday. He did a complete 180 with regard to the two state solution issue with Palestine. He already is turning around that stance within three days of that win. Actually, that was done in an interview with Andrea Mitchell and boy, man did he dodge that question. He was asked about his platform and answered by saying that the other state would become a terrorist state. That is indeed confusing but Obama gave his congratulation call yesterday while saying that the U.S. is reassessing our approach to Mideast peace. Israel did open the door for a Palestinian state after saying that there would not be a two state solution. Therefore, he was for it before it before he was against it and he was against it before he was before it. (Michael) Crowley says why perfectly but to turn that around in less than three days is pretty ballsy. The White House is also blasting the Netanyahu comments about how the Arabs are flocking to the polls and that the other side needs to get out to vote. That is pretty good strategy to me. It (Israel) is the biggest ally in that region. Maybe it is strategic to now be able to go after Netanyahu. Obama and his administration are shredding into him (Netanyahu) over the last day. We have some issues on both sides today. For instance, where does Palistine come into things now? This sparring back n forth involves them and they can't even say a word about it. Maybe being quiet is the way to go. But also, Joe is saying to do what Obama is doing by taking shots at him to make its point, but yet they know we have to work together in every way. As Mark Morial says too, this relationship between Israel and America needs to be totally reset. That is what i think needs to happen right away. Joe does say to do the blasting off the record in private. And, not to the public.

Next, what did happen at the University of Virginia with that kid getting beat up by the cops outside of that Irish Pub? What is the issue here? Is it about him not getting into the bar or him getting beat up by the cops? He received ten stitches after the incident. Everyone including the President at the University of Virginia to the victim himself and to Terry McAuliffe spoke out about it yesterday.

Court records show that Johnson was charged with obstruction of justice without force and public swearing or intoxication. The Virginia Gov. And, what is this story all about? Its been reported by everyone I assume but the Los Angeles Times reports that a black man's body has been found hanging from tree in Mississippi. That is ridiculous. Even if it were a suicide, why a tree? Too symbolic for my blood but local police have called in the FBI for help in investigating the death of a 54-year-old black man found Thursday hanging from a tree in the deep woods of central Mississippi.
The discovery has stunned friends and family members in this small rural town southwest of Jackson, where Otis Byrd, who had disappeared about two weeks earlier, worked as a riverboat employee. "They're talking about it might be a hate crime," Byrd's nephew, Lee Kendrick Byrd, said as a cluster of relatives gathered outside the family home and were greeted by neighbors with condolences and hugs.

Hanging death in Mississippi

At this point, “we don’t know if it’s suicide or homicide,” said Jason Pack, supervisory special agent for the FBI in Mississippi. The nephew said the family had been told by police that Byrd's hands had been tied, but he had worked them free and tried to loosen the noose. But that could not be confirmed by authorities, who declined to release details.

He said the hanging victim, who was identified by his family, had last been seen March 2, and had been sought by local authorities since the family filed a missing-person's report on March 13. On Thursday, the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks located the body in the woods near Roddy Road, about half a mile from the victim's last known residence, Pack said.

The Sheriff's Department contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and FBI for forensics and investigative assistance. Pack said investigators were examining the scene for evidence to determine the cause and manner of death. "We seen a man who had a bedsheet tied around his neck," Claiborne County Sheriff Marvin Lucas told CNN.

Derrick Johnson, head of the state chapter of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People, said the group wanted to be certain the death was not racially motivated. “We want to make sure it was not a racial hate crime,” he said. “We cannot stand by in 2015 and watch a lynching, if in fact that's what happened.” “They told me he was dangling in the tree, up in the tree hanging by his neck,” Shorter said in a telephone interview.Byrd's father, Willy Shorter, 83, said he was told by authorities that they had found his son's body.“This is a small town, everybody knows everybody,” and identifying the man wasn’t difficult, Shorter said.

He said he did not go to the scene.

“I don’t want to see my son,” Shorter said. “I want to remember him the way I always saw him. I don’t want to remember him hanging from the tree.” Outside the cluster of family homes known locally as "Byrdville," relatives said they were at a loss to understand what had happened. "He wasn't a bad person. He was working hard," Lee Kendrick Byrd said. "The good people get taken out quicker," said Randy Derby, a family friend who teaches at nearby Alcorn State University. Shorter said Byrd was one of “about 19 children” and has about 15 siblings living in the area.

According to Shorter’s wife, Jannie, the family last saw Byrd on March 2, when they saw him walking down a street in Port Gibson. They did not talk at the time, she said. A few days earlier, Byrd had come to the Shorter home to visit with his father, she said.

“He would take his daddy to see the doctors” for his kidney problems, she said. According to court records, Byrd was convicted of murder in 1980. The victim, according to news accounts from the time, was a 55-year-old convenience store operator, Lucille Trim. She was shot four times during an armed robbery.

He was paroled in November 2006, according to the Clarion-Ledger newspaper. The newspaper said Trim's daughter, Martha Rainville, became the first woman in the history of the National Guard to serve as a state adjutant general when she took that post in Vermont in 1997. Her husband, Paul McHale, is a former congressman from Pennsylvania and former assistant secretary of Defense, the paper reported.

As darkness fell, townspeople stopped their cars on the road, got out and offered expressions of sympathy to family members. "I don't know why someone would do that," said Nicole Byrd, another family member by marriage. "You're going to end up in jail, too. Then the circle goes on again." Hennessy-Fiske reported from Port Gibson and Muskal from Los Angeles. Times staff writer Lauren Raab in Los Angeles and Richard Serrano in Washington contributed to this report.

As Joy Ann Ried says about the town where it went down, it is a very rural area in Mississippi:

Claiborne County, Miss.

Hang on a second. Is Bill Karins saying that we could get up to 4" of snow today? Is that for real? I assumed that we would get sprinkles and some rain which could turn into sleet. I just assumed it was going to be a miserable day. I did not know we were getting snow accumulation today. 4 inches ain't no joke (although that may be for places outside of Philly in the mountains, etc.) Jeez Louise.

Morning Papers: Police in japan arrested someone for making threats to Caroline Kennedy. The Star Advertiser reports that the Magnum PI mansion sells it for $8.7 Million. The buyer is tight with the POTUS. The Daily mail reports that FIFA confirms that the 2022 World cup final will indeed be set in Qatar on December 18. There were bribes used for the match to be set in Qatar. The WAPO reports that the Indian parents climbed buildings to help their children cheat on tests. The panel reminds us when the Indian culture tosses kids off the roof into a blanket but anyway, Michael Hayden is on next to talk Iran Nuclear deal talks.

Ian Bremmer is on too. They discuss the spreading of the ISIS group into Iraq, Syria (which we knew about), in Iran and now of course into Tunis. Let alone in parts of Europe. Hayden believes that we have not exactly pushed ISIS back if you will, but that we have stabilized parts of the region. Bremmer feels that ISIS as a state has its' "days that are numbered" to quote his words today. As for the Iran Nuclear negotiations, it is the same issue that we have had with them. No one trusts Iran, but what do we do about it? Our issues with Iran are not just about Nuclear weaponry. Iran funds terrorists in Hammas and in Hezbollah. We have issues with them in Iraq. Hayden fears that if we do a deal, we would have to recognize them as a state of some sort. Honestly, there are no answers. There are not even any good ones because even Michael Hayden says there are no Plan B's or Plan C's, let alone a true plan to deal perfectly. We have no clue if these talks are going to succeed with us and Iran. From where we sit today, it seems like it won't. Or, we could feasibly be headed towards a deal; that is not a great deal. Which was the issue and this is exactly why that letter to the Iran Ayatollah was just too much too soon.

I saw an article headline the other day along the lines of 'Starbucks to discuss racism, what could go wrong?' (maybe from Think progress or from Mother Jones) and Joe is talking about that now. Mark Moriel is discussing being black in America. He highlights positives like the disparities have narrowed and he says that the Affordable Healthcare act helped with that issue. The Equity Index numbers in 2014 and in 2015 look pretty much the same but he does say that black kids with guns decreased while white kids with guns increased over the last few years. However, when you look at some large cities like areas around Los Angeles, Atlanta, (Washington (DC), NOLA, and SF/Oakland, the income inequality is large. 71% difference outside of LA, 61% in the Atlanta area, 60% differences in DC, 46% difference in NOLA and then 42% differences in the bay area. That is a lot percentage wise.

Who cares about Meerkat. It seems like they have fast become the sweethearts at the SXSW Festival. You show off live feeds on Twitter I guess. Its probably pretty cool now that i am seeing what it is. LOL. They are meerkatting on the show and Joe looks like he is in a house of distorted mirrors.

Back to some real news and we get to see what focus groups think about some of the candidates (Scott Walker, etc.). I bet they think he is bland if they even known who is is, but anyway, commercial break time (which is good because I then get in some real work to get done during the show).

Amy Holmes is on now too and speaking of settlements in Israel. From one time I was there to see whats up in the same areas where I travelled is night and day. What was once baron desert is now filled house or edifices piled on top of each other. Its wild how much those settlements have grown to be today. That area was empty in 1986 and now its a pile of crap everywhere. it looks like a third world country today. I am not sure why the administration is taking shots at Israel and at Netanyahu. I am not sure why they are doing it and I am not sure what they want to get out of doing it. Because i agree with Amy in that even though these pot shots are at Netanyahu, that Israel as a whole is taking the brunt of it. I bet it stops after yesterday/today. maybe they said their peace and they know that there has to be a total reset now. Oh and good point about maybe this is a message to them to say hush up about the Iran deal, and we will shut up about your (Netanyahu) antics. That could be why its so in your face over the last day. Great point made by someone (Ian Bremmer I think) on that panel.

The focus groups in New Hampshire made claims about Jeb Bush not a great candidate and Jeb's people have a lot to worry about. Republicans are not6 into voting for Jeb. These people are not even into hearing his arguments or why he should be elected next year or in '16. That is bad for that campaign because they maintain that they do not want another Bush in that office. However, Jeb's people feel that he can win them over in due time. Very Interesting. These people were not won over after his first stint to NH. But, what do they think about candidates like Scott walker and Rand Paul? I bet the new Hampshire people like Rand Paul. They seem to like Scott walker for evidently turning around the economy in Wisconsin. Has he done that for WI? I am surprised that the Union busting and him cutting education is not an issue with people. I don't think him not finishing college means a thing. That is ridiculous if people vote based on that issue. They seem to like Walkers record in Wisconsin. They like rand Paul because of how he has worked with people across the aisle. Amy Holmes said what i said here about the amounts of Libertarians in that state and how they would feel about Rand (Paul).

Global Economics is the discussion with Michelle Caruso Carreras and Natalie Jeresko along with the panel but honestly, I know nothing about global finance. I hate the fact I know nothing about it. Natalie Jaresko is the Ukrainian Finance Minister. To steal a joke from Bill Maher, 'my old job.' I do hope the Ukraine's economic outlook looks good if for anything but to shove it up the butt of the Russia Government. She feels that we should help build the Ukrainian economy and like I just said, I agree.

Oh Great. Monica Lewinsky is back in the news for some reason. Dylan Ratigan should up next too. They are discussing interest rate hikes and various economic issues. Which again, I know nothing about and therefore, I can't make opinions about it. This is like listening to the parents on the Charlie Brown cartoons (wawawa wawa wa). Sorry, I used that joke two times this week so i guess interest rate hikes is probably a key story to the ROW (rest of the world). They are now talking about water consumption and how California faces shortages. Which they have always faced shortages. I remember one year when I lived in LA that we could NOT water our lawn. Or,m maybe we could do it on specific days but water shortages in CA are age old. The problem I see is that southern CA gets there water from the north and throughout those aqueducts you see in movies and on TV. So, if it does not snow or rain way up the in the Sierra's, not only does Northern CA get hurt buy it, so does the southern parts. I think the panel is talking about alternatives to what i just said.

Next is the amounts of people that watched Empire. I have never seen that show. It looks annoying and too much for the likes of me (who grew up in music biz). Good for them though. The season must have ended this week. But Joe reports that almost 18 million people watched the show. The panel says the show is parallel to Dallas and Dynasty.

Speaking of TV, I wonder what went down on the latest episode of Party Down South which aired last night. That Hott Dogg chock is super hot. Actually, the blonde girl is super hot too. Plus, I like her personality more than anyone on the show. I love her laugh too and overall, she is a great sport. They all have sick bodies. The girls are so hot on that show.

And, so Peter Alexander is doing a story about how Monica Lewinsky is out on the stump trying to help- people get by shaming or whatever its called. The thing is about her, she could have said no to having sex with Bill Clinton. I am not condoning it at all and i feel she was treated awful (especially in the aftermath) and taking advantage of, but again, she could have said no. She knew at age 210 that a man cheating on ones wife is gross. We know that as a teen. I am not saying its not hard to say no in that case, but she could have done it. It sucked for her.

And, so why does Dylan Ratigan not have a house or Television set? Last I saw about him, he was doing something with regard to planting vegetables or something. I guess he has a morning show on somewhere now. You see Dylan and I agree in that Obama screwed up day one by doing Obamacare for two years when we had an economy that was plundered. Although in defense of Obama, I can safely say that he miscalculated by not thinking in 8 million years that it would be such a fight that lasted over two and half year. What am I saying? The newest GOP budget wants to repeal it again for like 55th time.

They are discussing the crises in Syria. It has been three years of I guess when either the Civil war started or since we should have intervened in some way. I told you yesterday that I must learn more about whats going on in this country. Like by watching the Vox Documentary Film and then that other one up at Netflix that I had gone to watch 88 times and never did. This discussion is more about us not allowing refugees into the U.S.

Regardless of it all, please stay in touch and have a great weekend! Go Terps!
