COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 14 Maryland men’s basketball team welcomes No. 5 Wisconsin for a nationally-televised game on ESPN at 7 p.m. at XFINITY Center Tuesday.

• Due to a sellout crowd, UMUC night school and University of Maryland employees leaving for the day, fans can anticipate a very high traffic volume on Tuesday when the Terps take on Wisconsin at 7 p.m. at XFINITY Center.

• Fans are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternative routes to campus. Avoid Route 1. Use Rt.193 to Paint Branch Drive (parking lots 4, 9, and 11) or Stadium Drive (Regents Drive Garage). As always, arrive early.

Melo Trimble scored 26 points, including a pair of pivotal three-pointers down the stretch, and then-No. 16 Maryland defeated Nebraska 69-65 Thursday night in the first-ever meeting between the teams. Dez Wells and Jake Layman each scored 14 for the Terrapins. Trimble went seven-for-nine from the floor and made 10-of-11 free throws. He also led Maryland with six rebounds and five assists.

• Maryland freshman Melo Trimble was named one of 16 watch list finalists for the 2015 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Feb. 21. Trimble has scored 20 or more points a team-high eight times this season, including three of the last four games. He is averaging 21 points per game during that span, shooting .615 from the floor (24-for-39) with a .906 mark from the charity stripe (29-for-32).

• Senior Dez Wells has scored in double-figures in seven straight games, posting 16.9 points per game during that span. Currenlty tied for 26th all-time in career points at Maryland with 1,266, he is 24 points shy of Joe Smith (1993-95) at No. 25.

• Maryland is 8-0 in games decided by six points or less. The Terrapins have won their last three games by a total of 11 points.

• The Terps have been ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for 13 straight weeks, the longest streak since 2002-03 when they were ranked all 19 weeks. Maryland was ranked 73 consecutive weeks from 1999-2003.

• Maryland is 16-1 in the friendly confines of the XFINITY Center this season, with its lone loss coming to top-five ranked Virginia on Dec. 3 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Terps are outscoring opponents by an average of 12 points per game at home while posting 72.8 points per contest in College Park.

• In the summer of 2012, Maryland junior forward Jake Layman and Wisconsin junior forward Sam Dekker were teammates on the under-18 United States national team that beat host Brazil for the gold medal in the FIBA Americas championships.
Trimble Guides Terps Past Nebraska

• Wisconsin brings a 10-game winning streak to XFINITY Center Tuesday after defeating Minnesota, 63-53, its last time out on Saturday. The Badgers’ two losses have come to Duke (12/3) and Rutgers (1/11).

• Frank Kaminsky leads Wisconsin with 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Sam Dekker is averaging 13.1 points and 5.1 boards per game while Nigel Hayes is the third Badger scoring in double-figures with 12.1 points per outing.

• Defensively, Wisconsin is surrendering a league-best 55.4 points per game and leads the Big Ten in scoring margin (+16.9).

• The Terps trail in the all-time series, 5-2, but defeated Wisconsin 87-57 in the 2002 NCAA Tournament en route to the program’s first national championship.

• Maryland’s dynamic trio of senior Dez Wells, junior Jake Layman and freshman Melo Trimble has proven to be a force to be reckoned with all season long.

• Wells, Layman and Trimble are combining to average 44.3 points per game this season. Maryland is one of only two teams in the league (Indiana) to boast three players averaging 13.5 points or more per contest.

• All three players have scored in double-figures in each of Maryland’s wins against Indiana, Penn State and Nebraska during its current three-game winning streak.
Trimble Named Watch List Finalist for Cousy Award
• Maryland freshman Melo Trimble has been named one of 16 watch list finalists for the 2015 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Friday.

• Trimble is averaging a team-best 16.1 points per game while leading the No. 16-ranked Terps in assists (84) and steals (37). The Upper Marlboro, Md., product, has scored 20 or more points eight times this season, including a 31-point showing against Arizona State on Nov. 24 which fell just two points shy of the Maryland single-game record for a freshman (Joe Smith vs. Rider, 1993). He is averaging 21 points per game in Maryland’s last four contests.

• He is currently seventh in the Big Ten in scoring.
