Sandy Hook Anniversary, "It's been six years since a gunman shot and killed 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook School" & a total of 13,848 Gun Related Deaths & 331 Mass Shootings in 2018, Gun Safety Report at the Sustainable Action Network (SAN)

A Message from Eric Lafferty:
It's been six years since a gunman shot and killed 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook School.

It's been six years since my mother, Principal Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung, was gunned down while protecting her students.

It's been six years of mourning but also six years of fighting.

Fighting for an end to the gun violence that kills nearly 100 Americans every day.

Fighting for an end to the gun lobby's control over our elected leaders.

Fighting for a future where our concerts and bars, our churches and synagogues, our schools and offices are safe from the threat of gun violence.

Six years ago, I made a pledge to never stop fighting.

And now I'm asking you: Will you join me in this fight and pledge to end gun violence in 2019?
After the shooting at Sandy Hook, Congress had a chance to enact a comprehensive background checks bill to help prevent future tragedies. But NRA-backed politicians blocked it. And in those six years, a pattern emerged after incidents of gun violence, such as mass shootings: we mourn, politicians offer platitudes while the gun lobby impedes progress, time passes, and nothing gets done. But that hasn't stopped me from fighting. And just last month, Americans elected a new wave of leaders — leaders who will help break the pattern of inaction to prevent gun violence.

The momentum is on our side. We have gun sense majorities in the U.S. House of Representatives and in state houses across the country. We're going to promote a comprehensive gun safety agenda that will keep our communities safe starting with a strong background checks bill when the new Congress convenes in January.

In 2019, we're going to keep up the fight to end gun violence in America, and I need to know if you're still with us: Pledge to stand alongside me as we fight to end gun violence in 2019.
