Take Action Against Dogfighting
puppy
Dogfighting victims are often seen tethered by heavy chains, meant to keep them isolated and oppressed as they are forced to fight for the amusement of spectators. Today, we need your help to fight against this disturbing form of cruelty and “break the chains” that hold these innocent victims captive. April 8 is National Dogfighting Awareness Day, and with three simple steps, you can join our fight and help us put an end to this violent blood sport and other forms of animal cruelty.
Action 1
Sign the HEART Act Petition.
Take a stand against unnecessary legal delays in the rehoming of dogfighting victims rescued in federal cases.
Action 2
Spread the Word.
Join our social movement by taking to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to tell us what your dog was born to do, and help bring awareness to this important cause using #BornTo.
Action 3
Donate.
Make a gift to the ASPCA, and help us break the chain of abuse endured by victims of dogfighting and ensure that we can fight year-round to save the lives of innocent animals.
Wyoming is dead set on shooting and killing 24 of Yellowstone's beloved grizzly bears.

Grizzly with cub
More than half of them could be females, including pregnant mothers.

We're not about to let that happen. Please give to our Predator Defense Fund today as we fight Wyoming's gruesome decision to kill these bears.

State wildlife officials have sanctioned the killing of up to 14 female grizzlies that leave Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks this year. It'll be impossible for hunters to tell through their rifle scopes if they're gunning down a pregnant bear — newborn grizzly cubs are the size of a teacup.

The death of one of these pregnant females will be a double tragedy: the end of the mother's life and the end of her unborn cubs.

These bears were rightly protected under the Endangered Species Act for 40 years. Last summer Trump stripped them of their protection — and now Wyoming's plotting the slaughter of mothers-to-be. It's horrific.

To make things worse, the state's also considering allowing hunters to use bait in some places, making it easier to take down a grizzly.

These bears need a plan for full recovery across the West — not a plan for trophy hunters to hang their heads on walls or use their skins for rugs.

Wyoming knows what it's doing is disgraceful. By barring any hunts within a quarter-mile of a highway, it wants to keep grizzly killing out of public view. Yellowstone's bears are some of the most popular in the world, and we're not about to let them disappear without a fight.

The Center is moving fast to save these bears. We're already in court to restore their federal protection, and we'll fight tooth and nail to stop the trophy hunt this fall. We need you with us to win — so please, give today to the Predator Defense Fund.

One Green Planet Petitions:
Wild Horses Are Being Shipped to Japan for Slaughter Via Canadian Airports — Let’s Stop This Now! American wild horses (as well as Canadian horses) are often shipped as “live exports” via Canadian airports (Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg International Airports) to Japan to be slaughtered for a disturbing dish called basashi, thinly-sliced raw horse flesh. The petition states that before being slaughtered, these horses are not provided with food or water for up to 36 hours as permitted by the law within Canada. If you would like to see these airports stop their participation in this brutal trade, please take a moment to sign the petition. Read more here.
Zoo Elephant Is So Lonely, Her Cage Is Covered With Trunk Marks From Scratching – Let’s Help Free Her! Sunny the elephant is a heartbreaking example of what life can be like for wild animals who are forced to live in captivity. At the Nomi Ishikawa Zoo in Japan, this beautiful animal has been completely alone for 29 years – regularly shut in a small concrete cell, without ever seeing other elephants.

When it is cold and snowy, Sunny has to spend most of her days locked in her tiny indoor cell. She tries desperately to somehow cope with her boredom, loneliness, and frustration. The organization Elephants in Japan, together with wildlife group Zoocheck, is working to help Sunny and other captive solitary elephants in Japan, but they need our help to be able to do their work and save the animals. A Racing Greyhound Dies Every 3 Days in Florida — Let’s Stop This NOW
GREY2K has composed a petition on Care2 calling for an end to dog racing in Florida. Although a major track in Florida was set to shut down last year, the petition explains, that according to state reports, a racing Greyhound dies every three days. The petition details the story of a racing Greyhound who “snapped his spinal cord” while racing at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. Another Greyhound suffered from a “ruptured organ” after colliding with another dog on the track, but she tried to finish the race, only to end up collapsing and dying alone in the dirt at the side of the Daytona Beach dog track.  Read more here.
The Calgary Zoo Euthanized a Wolf to Make Room for ‘Cuter’ Pups – Here’s Why We Need to Shut Them Down. A senior grey wolf named Kali was one of the most beloved animals at the Calgary Zoo in Alberta, Canada. In spite of that, last month Kali the wolf was put down by the zoo.
The reasons for Kali’s euthanasia are uncertain and very dubious. According to a report from a zoo employee who wished to remain anonymous, the only reason Kali was euthanized because the zoo wanted to make room for younger, “cuter” wolves to be on display – wolves that would make more money. It’s clear that whatever is going on at this zoo is NOT in the best interest of the animals. Sign a petition asking Calgary officials to intervene and shut down the zoo. Read more here

Calves Killed With Hammers on Australian Dairy Farm
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)
This week, PETA released disturbing video footage revealing severe abuse and neglect on a dairy farm in Australia that supplies Norco—a major Australian milk cooperative that exports ice cream to Rustan's Supermarket in the Philippines and yogurt to AEON in Japan. Its products are also sold in Australia, China, and New Zealand.
On this farm, the investigator found that calves who weren't profitable were commonly clobbered to death with hammers—one was struck on the head seven times.
AusDairyInvestigation
In the footage, one cow, named Tammy by the investigator, can be heard crying out in pain and distress as workers use a huge mechanical "calf puller" to pry her baby violently from her womb. She was helpless to escape this assault. Her calf died during birth, and Tammy died several days later, having been denied veterinary care.
