What A F*%cking Week for Elephants, Bamboo, Oklahoma City Zoo, Carol Burnett, Nosey the Elephant, Trump reverses ban on elephant trophies, Trump to Keep Ban on Importing Elephant Trophies, Ellen DeGeneres Launches #BeKindToElephants, Anne, Pass a National Ban on Elephant Acts

It is like whackamole because Nosey gets taken to a Sanctuary one day and then Donald J. Trump announces this weird reversal on a Barack Obama driven bill to ban Ivory and the ability to ship things gained in Trophy Hunts. Things like Elephant heads and their tail like when Don Jr cut some Elephant tail off one after shooting it dead. It is such odd behavior.

Trump admin. to reverse ban on elephant trophies from Africa but then a day later it gets placed on hold for the time being.

For Now, Trump to Keep Ban on Importing Elephant Trophies.
PHOTO: An African bush elephant on Fothergill Island, lake Kariba, in Zimbabwe, March 3, 2014.
The Trump administration plans to allow hunters to import trophies of elephants they killed in Zimbabwe and Zambia back to the United States, reversing a ban put in place by the Obama administration in 2014, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

However, for now, Trump to keep ban on importing elephant trophies.

Even though elephants are listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, a provision in the act allows the government to give permits to import these trophies if there is evidence that the hunting actually benefits conservation for that species.

That is a joke.

There is more money made with tourism and people visiting elephants to watch them in their natural environments. Killing them placing them on a wall caters to a mili-percent of a mili-percent of people that trophy hunt here the United States.

Plus, it caters to the absolute rich.

I do not see any heads of Lions or Elephants, let alone ivory in any people's houses that are part of the middle class.

This is another way he is draining the swamp by catering to the 1%.

President Trump is then said to be reconsidering the Administration’s decision to allow the import of elephant trophies from Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Humane Society Legislative Fund
In a Friday night Tweet, Trump announced that he has “put big game trophy decision on hold” until he reviews all conservation facts and “will update soon with Secretary Zinke.” The Interior Department’s misguided original decision overturned a ban on elephant trophy imports from Zimbabwe and gives American trophy hunters a green light to slaughter elephants in these countries—all for a trophy to hang on a wall.

Animal lovers like you can make your voice heard all the way to the White House!

This reconsideration is undoubtedly a result of public outrage and thankfully means that there is hope for elephants. At a time when elephants are under siege by poachers, the last thing they need are even more hunters chasing them around to kill them and break up their families. No decision is yet finalized, and so we must keep the pressure on the Administration to protect these iconic and beloved animals.

Ellen DeGeneres Launches #BeKindToElephants Campaign

Following the President's decision to allow hunters to bring "trophy" elephants into the U.S., Ellen stood up for the majestic creatures and called on viewers to help her raise awareness for her cause using #BeKindtoElephants on social media. For everyone who reposts or retweets her photo, we'll make a donation to The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Trump's war on wildlife just hit a disgusting new low. This time, it's threatened elephants he's pushing closer to extinction.

Despite the steep decline of Africa's elephants, Trump's government has overturned an Obama administration decision that banned the importation of elephant trophies from Zimbabwe.

The decision is certain to fuel more elephant killing, pushing these gentle, majestic creatures closer to vanishing forever.

If we're going to stop Trump on this one, we need your help. That's why we're sending this emergency alert to members like you. Please give to the Center's Endangered Species Act Protection Fund today so we can go straight to court and stop this travesty.  We've got a wildlife champion who's offered a match, so your gift by Dec. 31 will be doubled.

Trump's reversal on the elephant trophy hunting import ban couldn't come at a worse moment — just as Zimbabwe's government is in the midst of a military coup. Under these conditions, it'll be impossible to prevent the slaughter of elephants by poachers.

We've seen the gruesome photos of Trump's family proudly showing off their brutality against elephants and other threatened African wildlife. This sick mentality has got to be stopped.

Your emergency gift to the Center's Endangered Species Act Protection Fund will give us the resources we need to go toe-to-toe with Trump to make sure the ban stays in place.

We've sued the Trump administration more than 34 times since January — and we're already seeing important victories. Having you at our side gives us hope and strength. Just as importantly, you provide our hard-hitting attorneys, scientists and organizers the resources they need to fight and win in court.

Thanks for being in our corner through thick and thin. Your generous support makes our work possible.

Don't Lift The Ban On Trophy Hunting!
The Trump administration just gave American trophy hunters the green light to slaughter endangered African elephants.

In a shocking move, last week the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) announced it was canceling the Obama administration's critical elephant protections, which banned the import of trophies from Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Tell Secretary Zinke and the FWS: We should be protecting elephants, not allowing trophy hunters to massacre them for their cruel entertainment.

Zimbabwe is one of the most corrupt countries on earth. Perhaps not surprisingly, a hunting outfitter advertised elephant hunts in Zimbabwe as soon as the change was made public. It's a nefarious pay-to-slay arrangement that Zimbabwe has set up with the trophy hunting industry.

These inhumane policies are pushed by wealthy trophy hunters and members of Safari Club International, who win awards and bragging rights for traveling around the world in a head-hunting exercise to kill elephants and other rare creatures.

83% of Americans support banning elephant trophies. This administration must listen to us – not this cruel and barbaric industry.

Tell Secretary Zinke and FWS that you do not support this giveaway to the trophy hunting industry and want elephants to continue to be protected.

Let's get lonely Anne some elephant friends!
Anne the elephant was rescued from a life of suffering at Bobby Roberts circus in 2011, and moved to Longleat safari park for rehabilitation. This was meant to be a temporary respite to gain physical health, and enable her to be transferred to another location where she could be with other elephants.

But now that Anne has recovered, she is still alone.

Elephants are complex social animals and in the wild spend most of their day interacting in social activities. But Anne has been alone since her last friends, Beverly and Janie, died at the circus in the Winter of 2001.  She has spent 16 years now in total isolation from her own kind. This will affect her mental well being. Longleat has cared well for Anne, but now she needs to be with other elephants. That's why Adrian has written a Care2 petition to save her from loneliness.

Sign Adrian's petition to demand that Anne be moved to a sanctuary with other elephants!

Elephant Haven in France has agreed to accept Anne into their new elephant Haven, if Longleat agree to release her. There, she could be safely introduced to new elephant friends. Please sign now to demand Longleat transfer Anne to Elephant Haven in France to be with companions..

Let’s Get the U.S. to End Elephant Acts Nationwide!
A petition on Care2 explains that life for elephants used in circuses is so dangerous that they only live about half as long as their wild brethren. Forced to incessantly perform unnatural tricks in front of rowdy crowds only to return to sub-standard shelter and care, these innocent animals are forced to obey orders to avoid being brutally beaten.

The petition is calling on U.S. Congress to put a nationwide ban on the use of elephants in circuses, which will hopefully lead to a ban on all animals used in circuses. Please take a moment to support this proposal by signing the petition. Read more here.

In Defense of Animals
New Zealand: Ban Ivory & Protect Endangered Elephants & Rhinos! New Zealand is one of increasingly few developed countries that still has a legal, open ivory market. Ivory from savagely murdered elephants and rhinos is funneled through the country, keeping the global trade alive, and poachers in business. New Zealand's previous Minister of Conservation refused to introduce a ban to stop the domestic sale of elephant ivory and rhino horn, but New Zealand's new Conservation Minister brings with her new opportunity! Act now to call on her to shut down New Zealand's ivory trade and end the violent slaughter of elephants before they are driven to extinction! TAKE ACTION

Free Bamboo the Elephant from the Oklahoma City Zoo!
After less than a year at the Oklahoma City Zoo, Bamboo lost more than 1,200 pounds. Another elephant bit part of her tail off. And an attack by yet another elephant left a six-inch long, two-inch wide scrape on her truck. It is time to get Bamboo out of there!

Despite public statements from the Oklahoma City Zoo claiming that Bamboo is doing just fine, zoo records obtained by activists last year show that is not the case at all. The 50-year-old elephant was relocated to Oklahoma City from Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo two years ago, and has not been accepted into the zoo's herd. In fact, she has been bullied so severely that the zoo has been forced to isolate her at night from the other elephants.

When Teresa found out about Bamboo's failing health and rejection from the herd, she started a Care2 petition demanding that the Oklahoma City Zoo send the elephant to a sanctuary. Will you sign it?

Bamboo didn't arrive at the Oklahoma City Zoo alone. She was accompanied by Woodland Park Zoo's other elephant – 37-year-old Chai. But after only eight months at their new home, Chai died from emaciation and a systemic blood infection.

The zoo claimed at the time that there were no red flags leading up to the elephant's untimely death. But the records released last year indicate that Chai started suffering from weight loss, skin lesions, and other problems months before she died.

We cannot let Bamboo meet the same tragic fate as Chai. She has suffered through a terrible life at two different zoos, and now deserves to live out her final years in peace.

Last week, thanks to public outcry from hundreds of thousands of animal lovers like you, authorities confiscated Nosey the elephant from Liebel's Family Circus and sent her to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Now it's time to free Bamboo. Sign this petition to demand her release to the same sanctuary as Nosey.
