RESCUED: LEELA

Leela was one of thousands of animals languishing at a massive breeding mill in Pennsylvania that supplies hamsters, rabbits, gerbils, chinchillas, ferrets, and other small animals to pet shops. Kept in a crowded, windowless warehouse, she suffered from an upper respiratory infection for 10 days without any veterinary care. Her condition worsened, and her left eye became encrusted and sealed shut with a thick discharge. PETA U.S.' eyewitness was able to rescue her and rush her to a veterinarian, and after a few days, she beat the infection. Now, she sprints around the living room of her new home with a PETA U.S. staff member and melts into a puddle of contentment whenever her nose is gently rubbed.

Moon bear who suffered 10 years in a tiny cage loves swimming in a big pool

Moon bear Popeye, was one of nearly 40 bears Animals Asia rescued in 2015 from bear bile farms across Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province – home to tourism hotspot Halong Bay.

Moon bear Binh Minh was held on a bear bile farm and unable to lie down as the floor of his cage had shattered leaving him perched on twisted metal.

When rescued from a bile farm, Snow’s body was so horrifically mutilated we worried he would never come out his shell – but he’s surprised us all.

Every bear rescued from bile farm cruelty is an individual case who adjusts – or not – in their own time and way. Such was the desperate state of Snow that it wasn’t clear if he would ever be able to recover and be a bear in a community of his peers.

But this week, this exceptional moon bear showed us all that he is ready to embrace his new life.

Despite having spent a few weeks in an outdoor enclosure with new friends Easy and Poe, Snow was still showing signs of nervousness and unease.

WAF NEEDS YOUR HELP!

This adult buzzard arrived at Wildlife Aid recently with a badly broken wing after being hit by a car.

We rushed it in for an x-ray and the results were horrible. Not only was the wing broken, but the bones were badly fragmented and it needs the help of a specialist if it will ever fly again.

We put a plea for help out to one of the worlds best avian surgeons, Dr. Neil Forbes, and, despite the odds, he agreed to give the complex surgery a go. This procedure is very expensive - £500 - and we need your help!

This surgery is the only chance this buzzard has to return to the wild. If you can help in any way please donate what you can. With your help we can give this bird a second chance at life.
