Lion attacks trainer: lion grabs tamer by the throat, drags him across stage at circus

The fate of a 6-year-old circus lion in Northern France is up for debate, after he attacked his trainer during a live performance over the weekend.

The evening of May 6, roughly one hundred spectators packed into a tent to witness an unforgettable show at the Buffalo Circus. Around 5 p.m., the 30-year-old lion tamer was about to wrap up the show. After sending one of his two performing lions to a cage backstage, the trainer was suddenly attacked from behind by the other, as spectators could only look on in horror.

During the attack, the lion grabbed his master by the throat, and shook him around for at least ten seconds. Given how most circus animals spend their lives caged, whipped, poked and shocked, it’s no surprise this lion went after his keeper. After watching in shock for a few seconds, the circus staff blasted the big cat with a fire extinguisher, forcing him to release the trainer.

Giant rabbit: United Airlines could face lawsuit over Simon the bunny’s death

The owners of a giant rabbit that died after flying with United Airlines are demanding an investigation into his death and compensation from the trouble-hit carrier.

Simon, a Continental Giant Rabbit, died last month after a flight from London to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

The bunny’s former owner said he had a check-up just three hours before hopping on the plane and was “fit as a fiddle”.

Simon was on his way to his new owners — Iowa-based investors who had pinned their hopes on him winning their state fair’s biggest rabbit competition.

According to at least one airline employee, Simon may have accidentally been locked in a freezer for up to 16 hours after the plane landed in Chicago, the Des Moines Register reported.

Now attorneys for the rabbit’s owners are calling for an independent investigation. They say United cremated Simon after his death without permission from the owners, pretty much destroying any evidence left in the case.
