Rescued From a Lab, 7 Beagles Make Their Way to a Life of Snuggles and Love! It’s no secret that the majority of commercial companies are stocking store shelves with products that have been tested on animals. Few items in the shops we frequent sport labels that guarantee no animals were harmed in their production. For many people, the issue of animal testing is not one that crosses their mind often or at all when shopping. But what if every time we washed our hands, styled our hair, applied cosmetic products, or did our laundry we were faced with the reality of the harm that these items cause when tested on animals? If we knew that that one bottle of product in our hands contributed to the maiming, poisoning, injuring, and overall suffering of thousands of animals isolated in cages in labs, would we still use it? What if we knew that a large percentage of these animals were not just rodents, but dogs and cats like our pets?
More than 75,000 dogs, including ones rescued from shelters, are tested on in labs in the United States every year. Due to attributes such as their size and passivity, Beagles are most commonly used in pharmaceutical testing. Locked away and isolated in tiny cages, man’s best friend becomes a tool in man’s unnecessary experiments. Here in these labs, they face a life of torture until they are put to death.
Luckily, there are organizations that now exist to rescue and free animals from this kind of life. The Beagle Freedom Project has just rescued 7 beautiful pups from a lab in Massachusetts.
