Kevin Greene, Orlando Pace And Kurt Warner Three Rams Among Hall Of Fame Finalists
The finalists for the 2016 NFL Hall of Fame have been released, and the 15-member list includes three former Rams: edge rusher Kevin Greene, left tackle Orlando Pace and quarterback Kurt Warner.
Greene spent eight years with the Los Angeles Rams racking up 72.5 sacks.
Pace, the #1 overall pick in the 1997 NFL Draft, made good on his potential reaching seven Pro
Bowls and racking up three first team All-Pro selections.
That finalist list cleaves off the two wide receivers from the Greatest Show on Turf, Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, both of whom made the semifinalist list. All six made last year's semifinalist list, though it was the same three finalists this year plus Jerome Bettis a season ago. Bettis was the only Ram to make the golden jacket cut.
It marks the second opportunity for the wave of the Greatest Show on Turf to follow Marshall Faulk's selection into the Hall of Fame in 2011.
Brett Favre will certainly headline the class and is a shoe-in to make the Hall among the 25 finalists. Three other finalists, two senior candidates and a contributor, are among the options as well. This year's senior candidates, players whose careers ended more than 25 years ago, are Oakland Raiders QB Ken Stabler and Detroit Lions G Dick Stanfel. The contributor nominee is Eddie DeBartolo, Jr., the former owner of the San Francisco 49ers.
The class will be chosen, February 6. The class will be announced in primetime the following evening, one night before Super Bowl 50
