Saved From Near Death Due to Heart Condition, Bucky the Dog Is Ready for a Forever Home.

Growing up in a warehouse, on a chain, Bucky spent the first six months of his life as a guard dog. Then, as time went by, his caretaker, who had purchased Bucky from a pedigree Belgian Shepherd breeder, noticed something wasn’t right. Bucky, a hearty eater, was as thin as a rake and hardly grew and his belly was distended. After taking him to the veterinary clinic, his owner – expecting it to be something minor – received a heartbreaking diagnosis: Bucky was dying. Unless he could foot the expenses for life-long medication and major surgery, his only option for the sick dog was euthanasia. But the owner had neither the money to save his life nor the heart to end it. Instead, he took Bucky to the Animal Friends Foundation-Burgas,leaving it to them.

A Ticking Time Bomb

Abandoned by his owner, Bucky’s life now lay in the hands of the unfamiliar faces at the Animal Friends Foundation-Burgas. The team, despite their  lack of funds, couldn’t turn their back on this innocent young soul, not like his owner had done. They wouldn’t give up on him. After numerous tests at another clinic, Bucky’s diagnosis was startling. He has a rare heart condition called stenosis which is the narrowing of the heart valve and stops blood from circulating properly causing an accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity.

His owner, it seemed, had bought Bucky from an illegitimate pedigree breeder. As a result, he was born with this fatal heart condition. Sadly, no treatment can cure this complex heart defect completely but Bucky, nevertheless, needed major surgery. Only five dogs in the world have undergone this kind of surgery before and Bucky is the only dog of his small size to receive this operation.

With the surgery, came risks. But Bucky, with his immense strength of will, came through it with no problems. While this surgery won’t erase his condition entirely, it has made it far more stable than before.

New Hope for Bucky

After a successful operation, Bucky’s life expectancy still hangs in the balance. He could live for ten years, ten months or ten days and will need medication every day to draw out the liquid accumulating in his stomach.
bucky4
For now, he’s doing well. The workers at the Animal Friends Foundation Burgas say he doesn’t gain weight easily and won’t ever grow to be the normal size of a Belgian Shepherd dog but most importantly, he’s happy. He’s been living at the Animal Friends Foundation – Burgas Shelter for nearly a year and absolutely loves human company, sadly, his condition makes finding a willing adopter all the more difficult. Despite his loving disposition and sweet face, the shelter says no one has ever shown any interest in adopting him.
bucky5
Bucky’s heart might be defective, but to make it stronger, he needs a loving family and home. Bucky has so much love to give, but nobody to give it to. So please, if you would like to adopt Bucky or make a donation to ensure his care at Animal Friends, click here. Bucky’s “owner” abandoned him because he was too much for him to handle and now, all Bucky wants is a safe and loving home. He might only have a few weeks left to live and deserves the chance to finally get the love and respect he deserves!

These Baby Lambs are so Happy They Were Rescued They Just Can’t Stop Smiling!
While we might be in the throws of a heat wave up here in the Northern Hemisphere, down in Australia it is winter time. Sadly, the timing of the winter’s most frigid months in the region also overlaps with lambing season. The first few days of life can be incredibly difficult for a little lamb born into the agriculture industry, but when you couple that with extremely low temperatures, it makes for a very dangerous situation for these young babies.
Millions of baby lambs are born every year in Australia and many of them never survive these sordid conditions, but Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary is set on changing this harrowing statistic. In the past few months, Edgar’s has rescued a whole team of little lambs and no matter what condition these babies came to the sanctuary in, they have given them their all to help them recover and grow up big and strong.

Little Bo and Peep are just two of the latest addition to the adorable rescued lamb herd.

These two wee babes were rescued only 24 hours after they were born.

Bo-and-Peep

Without their mothers to care for them, these lambs would have a tough road ahead of them. Luckily, their kind rescuers know just how to care for them.

Bo-and-Peep-2

Bo and Peep might have had a rough start to life, but since their arrival at their new sanctuary home, they’ve been nothing but smiles!

Good luck, little lambs! You’re in great hands now!

Meet the World’s Happiest Rescued Goat.

Many people think that there is a big difference between farm animals and the animals they consider pets. We happily take dogs and cats into our homes and make them a part of our families, but this is not the case for farm animals. Despite the fact that many farm animals are highly intelligent and enjoy the company of humans just as much as a cat or dog, we have created a line between these two types of animals and consequently only see farm animals as commodities or even food.
Thankfully, not all humans share this belief and there are many kind people working to change this perception. Animal Place farm sanctuary provides a wonderful safe haven for animals who were rescued from the agriculture industry. At Animal Place, farm animals are given all the love and care that they deserve and allowed to enjoy life on their own right.
And how do the animals at Animal Place feel about their freedom? Well, just ask Cornelius the goat!
tumblr_nrlfosyunw1roqhllo1_500
Cornelius came to Animal Place after his mom was rescued from a slaughterhouse. Little Cornelius and his brother Noah never had to experience the horrors that their mother endured while in the agriculture industry and have grown up to be wonderful and happy goatsat their sanctuary home. Just check them out in action!
Seeing these two goats frolic and play is sure to warm your heart! All animals deserve to be treated with love and compassion – no matter what species they are.

Saved From a Dog Fighting Ring, Cadence the Pit Bull Gets a Second Chance at Life.
When Hope for Paws received a call about an injured Pit Bull outside of Los Angeles, they immediately set out to help. Known for their incredible ability to transform formerly abused dogs into loving, exuberant animals, Hope for Paws was certainly the right rescue to call.
Rescuers arrived at the scene to find a female Pit Bull, covered in scrapes and wounds, cowering in an alley. Unlike other dogs that the Hope for Paws team has encountered, she did not run from rescuers but seemed absolutely desperate for their help.
Naming her Cadence, the team was able to get her into their rescue van and back to their vet facility in no time. It didn’t take long for them to judge from her injuries that Cadence had been used as a bait dog in a fighting ring. Bait dogs are often smaller, more docile dogs who are used to train fighting dogs to attack and kill. If Hope for Paws had not stepped in to rescue her, there is no doubt that this sweet dog would not have survived.
Thankfully, Cadence can put these horrific days behind her and start a new life. This happyPittie is now being cared for by a foster family and is on the look out for a forever family! To learn more about adopting Cadence, click here.

This Crew Found a Nearly Dead, Undernourished, Paralyzed Wolf. What Happens Next Touched Our Hearts!
This is one remarkable video. Watch as a nearly dead yet incredibly beautiful wolf is found in a creek. The wolf appears shaken and is paralyzed and frail and seemingly pretty scared. What happens next in the rescue is pretty incredible. It will touch your heart just how much this crew works to save this creature.

After the rescue, you can see the wolf slowly gaining back strength and coherence. Wolves are truly beautiful and majestic creatures — watch the beauty of a pack here. They also can make some pretty cute noises! Though wolves aren’t good as companion animals in most cases, we are so happy that people take the time to save them as they would any other sort of furry animal. It’s risky to take on a wild animal rescue, but it’s so worth it (please don’t do it if you’re not a professional, though) to help a creature like the one shown in this video.

NOTE: As an important note, do not try to help wildlife of any sort unless you are trained. Find a local wildlife rehabber/rescuer or veterinarian ASAP, or call a rescue hotline. Here are some that might help!

Pit Bull Who Cried When He Was Abandoned Is Now Smiling!
Jack, the handsome Pit Bull, made news when he was abandoned at a shelter in California right before the Christmas holiday. Unfortunately, many dogs are abandoned around the holiday season because their “families” don’t want to pay to board them during travels. While Jack was not alone in being abandoned by his family, his story made the news because it was so incredibly sad.
Jack wasn’t just abandoned at the shelter. His caretaker brought him there to leave him, and laughed at Jack when he began to cry out. According to witnesses, it was a terribly heartbreaking thing to watch. The loyal dog was obviously distraught at the idea of being left behind, and the man who was supposed to love and take care of him laughed at his pain.
Although this handsome, two year old boy spent Christmas at the Carson Shelter in Gardena, California, He is starting the new year off right! After his story went viral, Jack became quite the popular boy. He is now going home with a loving family, one who will take amazing care of this deserving pup!
After the holiday season, shelters are often at full capacity. If you are ready to welcome a new family member into your home, visit your local shelter and make it a great year for a rescue dog!

When Jack was left at the shelter, he was obviously distraught. He had lost his home and family.

Now, Jack is getting a new chance at happiness. He is going home to a great new family who will love him like he deserves. Look at that smile!

Mr. Mo Project Saves Lives By Helping Senior Dogs Find Forever Homes

Vicky Neville and her tender loving bull dogs heart did not always have it easy. After years of heartache and enduring the loss of three bull dogs, recovering from divorce and witnessing the passing of her sister and soulmate, Vicky was admitted into inpatient care for her chronic depression. While in recovery, she heard about the Mr. Mo Project, a non profit organization that finds loving homes for senior dogs. On Easter Sunday, Mr. Mo Project founders, Chris and Mariesa Hughes showed up at Vicky's house with Macy, a senior bull dogs. Vicky and Macy connected instantly and before Vicky knew it, her life began to change. She found herself living life again, laughing, gardening, and rediscovering the parts of her day that made her truly happy, all with her new companion by her side. We all know that shelter dogs need our love, but sometimes it's the unconditional love from a dog that can make all difference to its owner.

Just months after suffering paralysis, Erdi is back in the great outdoors
Moon bear Erdi was rescued by Animals Asia from one of China’s infamous bile farms has amazed her carers by overcoming paralysis to once again walk in the sun. In March 2015, vets at Animals Asia’s Chengdu Bear Rescue Centre discovered moon bear Erdi had suffered paralysis in her hind legs. Thankfully, by May Erdi had regained enough sensation to re-enter a den and now, five months on has finally set foot on grass again. Erdi delighted her carers by fully exploring the extent of her private enclosure and nonchalantly munching on freshly foraged pumpkin. Music in this video is "Preludes No. 1 & 2" by Chris Zabriskie is licensed under a Attribution License.
