Oregon House of Representatives joined the State Senate and voted to pass expanded background checks

Moments ago, the Oregon House of Representatives joined the State Senate and voted to pass expanded background checks.

That means, after years of hard work, the next and final stop for this important bill -- legislation that that will save lives -- is Governor Kate Brown's desk. We expect she'll sign the bill, but the gun lobby has promised to make a lot of noise before she does.

Add your name to mine and encourage Oregon Governor Kate Brown to sign expanded background checks into law.

Last February, I testified before the Oregon Legislature that, "When dangerous people get guns, we are all vulnerable."

The bill stalled shortly after, but we kept fighting because, as Gabby promised, "If Congress won't act, we will." And together, we're creating a model for expanding background checks in every state across the country.

But there's one last step, and that's Governor Brown's signature. Ask her to sign the bill today:

The campaign to pass background checks in Oregon included a coalition of clergy, survivors, veterans, doctors, and law enforcement, and enjoyed the support of over 87% of Oregonians.

We acted because background checks save lives, and we won't stop now.
