President Obama: Don't let America drive elephants to extinction!

Every 20 minutes, a wild African elephant is killed for its tusks.

Help Save Elephants Now
Last year, President Obama promised tough new rules cracking down on ivory sales in the U.S. to stem this ongoing elephant slaughter -- yet those rules have yet to be seen.

NRDC is going all-out to mobilize a nationwide outcry to compel the President to take immediate action to save elephants before they're gone forever-- but we need your help!

Tell President Obama to act now to stop the deadly U.S. ivory trade and end America's role in the brutal killing of elephants.

The price of delay is unthinkable: between 2010 and 2012, poachers killed more than 100,000 African elephants to satisfy an alarming spike in the international demand for ivory.

That tragic rise has been driven in large part by growing demand in China. But shockingly, the U.S. is the second largest ivory market in the world.

The NRA and other groups are going all out to block an ivory trade ban -- all so they can protect their ability to hunt elephants for trophies and maintain the market for ivory collectibles, like expensive guns with ivory inlays.

Here's the good news: The Obama Administration has already taken key initial steps to rein in ivory imports.

So send the President a message commending him for making important progress in the fight to save elephants -- and pushing him to act faster to issue tough regulations that will throttle the ivory trade.

Make no mistake: This is a wildlife catastrophe of epic proportions.

If we don't move swiftly to stop this heartless trade, scientists say these magnificent creatures could be wiped out entirely in just 10 years.

Please join me right now in urging President Obama to shut down the U.S. ivory trade for good.
