March Madness (for the Environment)

With the release of our 2014 National Environmental Scorecard, we now have new scores for Members of Congress based on how they voted on the top environmental votes last year. A lot of the scores were … not great. So, in honor of March Madness, we’ve rounded up some of the worst environmental offenders and set up a not-so-Sweet 16 smack-down.

We built a bracket of some of the lowest-scoring senators and representatives, but now we need to hear from you! Cast your vote today to pick the top (worst) two members in each the Senate and the House, and then we’ll have another round to pick the finalists from each chamber. Make sense? Now onto Round One!

The National Environmental Scorecard has been a cornerstone of the League of Conservation Voters since 1970, and one of the best ways for us to hold Members of Congress accountable for their votes on pressing public health, climate, energy, lands and wildlife issues. Members’ scores are based on their voting records for the most important environmental legislation in a given year. And the 2014 Scorecard confirms what we already knew: Too many Members of Congress are doing Big Polluters’ bidding.

We certainly have our work cut out for us on Capitol Hill. But for now, let’s have some fun — vote for your (least) favorite environmental foes in the Senate and the House!
