As you all may know, The Students at the university of Maryland started the Food Recovery Network; the Pride Wins BTN Home Court Challenge (& $5,000 for the program)
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland student section “The Pride”
won the Big Ten Network Home Court Challenge as the student section who had the
worst opponent free throw percentage in the 2014-15 season.
The Pride was honored at the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago during Maryland’s quarterfinal game on Friday, March 13. Mark Silverman, the president of the BTN, presented a $5,000 check to members of The Pride, including members Bryan Farrell and Ted Kuligowski, in honor of the group’s charity of choice – Food Recovery Network. This season, The Pride helped the Terps to a perfect 9-0 home record in Big Ten play and an 18-1 mark overall at XFINITY in 2014-15. About the Issue

Each chapter works with on-campus dining halls and other, off-campus eateries to divert food from the landfill to community members in need, while also raising awareness on issues of food waste and hunger in America.
By May 2015, Food Recovery Network aims to be on 150 campuses and to have donated 800,000 pounds of food.
