We’re in the middle of a California sea lion crisis!

Pile of sea lions

You may have heard on the news that record numbers of sea lion pups are stranding on California shores. It’s true—for the third year in a row—California sea lions are struggling to survive. Why are these sea lions stranding? No one knows. They may have been weaned too soon or are struggling to find enough food due to changing fish stocks.

But no matter the reason, these animals are in crisis and really need your help today.

Our volunteers have been rescuing 10-15 animals every day for the past few weeks. And this is supposed to be our slow season! During an average year, we might only have 10-15 patients total in January and February.

But as you can see, this is not an average year. We’ve already rescued more than 160 California sea lions in 2015—and more than 100 of them have been tiny pups weighing half of what they should.

I know you agree that it’s tough to see pups looking like nothing more than skin and bones.

But don't lose hope.
Our dedicated staff and volunteers are working day and night. And with 40 years of experience behind us, we are giving each patient the best care possible.

Though many caring people like you have been giving what they can, our patients still need your help for a second chance. So please, make an emergency life-saving gift today.

With your help, we’ll be able to keep our rescue trucks moving and our fish buckets fully stocked no matter how long this crisis lasts.

Please help the patients today!
