Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday
to you!
Joining us for today's show, we
have:
Mark Halperin, Nick Confessore, Andrea
Mitchell, Steve Rattner, Ted Olson, Ari Melber, Kasie Hunt, Jonathan Turley,
Rep. Sean Duffy, Eugene Robinson, Atul Gawande, Gov. Bobby Jindal, Kim Ghattas,
Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, Rick Santorum, Karen Santorum, Eugene Levy and
Catherine O’Hara
They start off the show today with a
bit of a surprise by talking about the film Selma and LBJ (Lyndon B. Johnson)
saying that the depiction of him was a lot stronger with regard to black
integration, compared to say JFK (John F. Kennedy). He makes the point that LBJ
had the great courage and Willie says that he could have been depicted a bit
wrong when it came to civil rights. Actually, I am confused. Did they depict him in that film as a civil rights innovator or did they not? Regardless, the
University of Alabama had a screening of the Oscar nominated film (Selma) last night and Joe is proud of them for showing it. We
all know that Joe went to Alabama and is the ONLY reason why I like them in
college sports. Mark Halpern jokes about him becoming a meth dealer which I
don’t get that joke either. Oh Well. maybe I need to have more coffee. They all say that film is amazing and so did my friend. I have the screener of it and I have
not viewed it yet. I have seen every film (Oscar Screeners) from Alexander the kid movie to Fury
and to American Sniper, but I have not seen an important film like Selma. It never interested me for some reason and i am told to watch it by many people. I think I just do NOT get how people acted that way in the first places and that is why I just don't care about that subject matter. I should not takeit for granted but also, I
wrote about the chaos that was happening in the 60’s in my Fearsome Foursome
chapter in my second book (Diary Of A Ram Fan).
Regardless of Selma, I just heard that
SONY is using Spiderman in some Marvel related films next year and its on the text line at the bottom of the TV screen (they do NOT mention though). SONY did not
give up those rights but they will integrate Spidey in those marvel films starting next
year.
And, I see what we are getting at here.
They are discussing that order about gay marriage in the state of Alabama. We
wrote about that as our main headline at sunset Daily last night. His (Joe’s)
point is that they (Alabama) must follow the federal laws rather than its own
state laws. Several counties started issuing gay marriage licenses but others
and state law people are fighting it. The Supreme Court did not put that ruling on hold and therefore it can be allowed now. More than 2/3rd’s of the states
counties refused to allow gay marriage.
Mika then brings up the jabs happening
between Israeli President Netanyahu and the U.S. President Obama. Netanyahu says
that rather than worry about protocols, people should worry about Iran. Obama
stated in a speech that German President (Merkel) would not have requested to
have a speech weeks/days before their election. As Andrea Mitchell says, its not
about anything but John Boehner not alerting any of the Dem’s about it which he
should have done. They had meetings in general and he (Boehner) never even
brought it up. The Dem’s view it as a political stunt. They also say that
Boehner misled Netanyahu (and the dem's) by her saying that he had them believe that Dem’s are on board with
him doing a speech to the congress. I agree with Joe. If it is indeed a (political) stunt, its
wrong. Andrea says there is lots of politics with it here. And, that its blowing up
because the last time he did a speech during that last election, his numbers
went up and it helped him win his own election. She (Andrea Mitchell) says what
I said yesterday here. If Netanyahu is looking for a way out, its not evident
because he tripled down yesterday saying he is not budging on that decision to
do that speech to our congress this month. But as (Mark) Halpern says, if he
(Netanyahu) is coming here to lobby against the POTUS, its not a cool move. The
POTUS is trying to make a deal with IRAN and the Israeli President is very much
against it.
Mika then says that David Brock quits the Hilary (Clinton) Super Pac
(Priorities Campaign) Campaign before they discuss Nick Confessore story out of the NY
Times. Those groups — along with another pro-Clinton group, the super
PAC Ready for Hillary — had their fundraising practices called into question
last week by a New York Times report. It pointed out that veteran Democratic
fundraiser Mary Pat Bonner got a 12.5 percent commission on funds she raised for
Brock’s groups and a smaller percentage commission on cash she raised for Ready
for Hillary. In his letter to the co-chairs of Priorities’ board — former
Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm and former Obama campaign manager Jim Messina —
Brock alleged that “current and former Priorities officials were behind this
specious and malicious attack on the integrity of these critical organizations.”
Nick Confessore says on the show that it’s a bit of a
conflict to accept or to pay money and/or a commission (or retainer) for this
type of consulting work. I can see why donors would be pissed about
it.
On another (non) campaign note, Jeb’s (Bush)
is deleting tweets or something? He is deleting old tweets from three or four
years ago. Not him but an IT guy that works forthat campaign. I assume its because Tweets are going to show up on Google Searches
from now on, but we all know that if you write anything online, its there
forever. That’s how I live my life at least.
Anyway, the top news stories (Morning
Papers) so far today are (well first they are discussing Mika’s daughter and her
Instagram account that has something to do with food (‘Coast to Coast’)
that the Secret Service Deputy resigns. Go figure. He
only let 19 people and drones get over the fence on the WH grounds, but he
somehow gets another role with homeland security. Failing upward at its best and
then the first female CEO was tapped at Delloitte. Who cares about that issue
even though she is going to be on the show and then they talk about what I said
about that secret security guy failing upward into another important position
but then nicotine lozenges are evidently hard to find. that’s a total non story.
It turns out that Willie’s great Uncle played professional Hockey for the
Detroit Red Wings in the 30s and did Cigarette and Hamburger ads (And, shit. Ed
Sabol died? WTF? I did not even hear about it and it was not on the Philly news
when I was in the car today? What is up with that not being headline news today.
NFL Films is the best ever and did you know they never even had a written
contract with the NFL? That’s how good they have been since the 60s. "Through his
determination and innovative spirit, Ed Sabol transformed how America watched
football and all sports," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday. "Ed
ignited the fire at NFL Films and was the Keeper of the Flame with a remarkable
vision and dedication to telling the stories of the people who played, coached
and loved the game. "He earned the ultimate recognition by being selected in
2011 to the Pro
Football Hall of Fame where he will forever be remembered
alongside the men he so greatly cared about. Ed's memory will live forever in
the hearts and minds of fans around the world whenever they see the work of NFL
Films and of the many people he inspired."
(Steve) Rattner is on now talking about the GDP and
touching on what we said Friday which is that things seem to be getting better on paper per se, but a lot
of us do NOT really feel it. He does say the obvious thing about it being because that globalization is growing
huge and therefore stocks would rise at Corp’s, but it does not trickle down to
mainstream to be able feel it. The middle class is still being squeezed while the rich
are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. This will be a huge factor
in the 2016 election.
That election BTW, will be a great one. Between that issue and the Foreign Affairs issues, its going to be quite a debate. You will have the GOP saying things suck and the Dem's somehow have to show the world its getting better even though noone is really feeling it. That’s going to be a tough sell next year.

Next. Corruption in the new York Governments
Offices. Go Figure there too. New York is by far the most corrupt state in the
USA. I have never seen anything like it. You can sue anyone for anything and you
can arrest anyone for anything and both with civil cases and claims and with
criminal cases and claims accordingly. And, you do NOT need a shred of proof or evidence when doing it. You can
just do to it to see where it lands in both regards and that is corrupt. It
leads to corruptness. It would only breed people acting corrupt and it trickles
up to the top, to the bottom and all around. New York State is a corrupt state filled with
litigious acts. They live and die that way and that starts at the top in the highest
part of that government and that trickles down everywhere. There is no other
state that acts this way first, and then it makes whomever proves one innocence
later on after they have to spend a ton of money and stop whatever they do on a
day to day. And, the people are starting to now wake
up to it. It took me like 6 years to figure out how corrupt it is in New York
State. It is no wonder the Government people and various officials are getting
caught acting this way. I was told by a lawyer in new York City that you can arrest or maybe they
used another term, a “ham sandwich” in the state of New York. You can also start
a litigation without one bit of actual proof. That takes away that
“innocence until proven guilty” concept because you are deemed as guilty all of the time in the
state of NY, and then one has to prove ones innocence in that state. It’s a
corrupt state with corrupt lawyers and corrupt government officials that care
about anything but that actual truth. I hate New York. The entire corruption
committee was shut down after 9 months. What a joke. That says it all too.
BTW, it was eight years ago today when Obama announced that he was
running for POTUS.
Mika and Joe are now sparring back n forth again about the Netanyahu
speech. Neither like how it went down because even Kasie Hunt just reported the
invite of Netanyahu was misleading and that many Dem’s are in a tough position
as to whether dhow up for it or not, but Joe segues to the Iran issue which I
don’t know what one has to do with the other but anyway, maybe no one should
watch it like Joe says but that is not the point. Its congress. They cant
exactly turn off ones TV set. If they do not show, it’s a jab against Israel. If
they show, they are not being loyal to its party. It’s a bad situation. Joe says
that he is not an Israeli which I am not sure again, what Iran or that has to do
with the speech and it being political. Mika says that Joe changed his view and
opinion it but Joe has always said that it should have been set up differently,
but moving forward, if there is a need to speak, than he should do it. But man
what a difference like 8 years ago when Netanyahu spoke to our government
compared to now. It’s / There is a stark difference. I just cannot believe how
we let Israel dictate what goes on in America but that’s my opinion about it.
(Mark) Halpern asks how does it affect the USA and Halpern reiterates that
(John) Boehner said it was a bi partisan decision. I don’t know how that hurts
America. We do have two parts of the government but again, Boehner should have
used the better protocols by letting the WH admin know beforehand. he should
have respected that but we know Boehner does not respect the POTUS and his
people. There is a huge issue as to whether this ego driven and political driven
and Willie makes the great point that would this NOT be just as effective to do
‘behind closed doors?” Mika keeps saying that Joe is great at saying what are
GOP talking points which he is great at it but we have known that for years. At
least Nicole Wallace is not on getting angry and talking over people. Joe is
being a great sport about it.
Anything else to discuss today? This is just going round in circles
every day. Which I guess is the point about it. He (Netanyahu) and (John)
Boehner would not be getting this much debate if he did not deal the way he did
it. He should have approached the POTUS first and even said that you may or may
not like it, but this is deal. We are asking him (Netanyahu) to speak. End of
story. He (Boehner) did not do it at all and look at us now discussing this issue all
AM for two days now. Plus, if we are debating it, its probably all over the
mainstream media outlets with people going nuts either way and bot ways.
Back to the ‘Bama issue. Joe thinks people understand it and (Mark)
Halpern thinks that judges will prove to be martyrs and actually go to jail to
make its point to stop gay marriage.
And, we have breaking news that the UAE have strikes ISIS targets.
Keri Simmons is on live. Let’s hope they can keep that feed on so he can speak.
The United Arab Emirates announced Saturday it is sending a squadron of F-16
fighter jets to Jordan, resuming its participation in U.S.-led airstrikes on The
Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. The announcement was made by Auer's official
government news agency, following the U.S. State Department's announcement
Friday that the Arab country had reaffirmed its commitment to the coalition and
that suggested that “positive news” on the matter would be announced within the
next few days. The UAE stopped flying airstrikes over Iraq shortly after
Jordanian pilot Lt. Moath al Kasasbeh was shot down in a mission over Syria and
captured by ISIS in December. News reports suggested the UAE dropped out because
the United States did not have enough search-and-rescue assets in place to
assist downed planes. The coalition has flown more than 2,000 air missions over
the past few months, in the effort to stop the Islamic extremist group’s fast
and deadly rise in the region.
And, back to the ‘Bama issue again. I think we all get that state
lawyers and judges cannot supersede federal law and Supremes judges. BTW, why
cant we just let whomever marry whomever? How and why does affect the likes of
me and mainstream America? Are we taxed differently? Do we lose out money of gay
people marry each other? Who cares. Fundamentally speaking, who cares. Let
whomever be the way they want to be. Jeez. Why is the the top story around the
world? Its so odd that people still want to control people and even control
women’s bodies, etc./. Its very odd behavior to want that form of control.
Unless it costs the tax payers money, it none of our business what other people
do with themselves. We should be worried about violent people or people that
screw over other people rather than gay marriage (and even females bodies).
maybe the Bama issue because it was the last state to recognize the civil rights
laws and even was the last state to allow interracial marriage and also
fundamentally, it was a law where people could not marry inter racially? Wow. I
had no clue that was an actual law. What a weird country we are in the USA. For
a country that preaches freedoms and whatnot, it certainly has had its control
over lots of people.
Sean “The Real World” Duffy is on now to say the normal GOP’s talking
points and thank our god for Joe. He states that the Dem’s say the GOP (George
Bush Jr. / Dick Cheney) got us into war and that the GOP now says that the Dem’s
(President Obama) took us out too soon and what do we do now? Eugene Robertson
that says that when and if we put people into that region again (with boots on
the ground), that will put them in harms way again. And, I agree. We are tired
of war and like (Sean) Duffy says too, we are sick of the Middle East. Now,
allowing ISIS to grow itself in those regions is the big Q which (Sean) Duffy
says. I honestly like Sean Duffy BTW but he is a quintessential GOPer. But he is
almost real 100% of the way. He is held back by his party and its talking
points. He’s cool though. He’s conservative too and there he goes with some digs
about the POTUS (prayer breakfast speak). OK. This is over with. Good. And, OI,
Rick Santorum is next. Daughter issue or no daughter issue at hand (or how they
made it an issue after trying hard to not making it an issue), I do NOT feel
like hearing from him. The best part of Santorum is this line from the Sopranos
show on HBO:
That’s what we got of him (Rick Santorum).
Atul Gawande is up now talking about how we think about
death. I will stay away from this issue which \is I think the point. No one
wants to address it. I know that I don’t. Plus, he was just on Bill Maher’s show
and so we already went over this issue and him, over the last two weeks.
And, Bobby Jindal is on and is quickly asked if he is going to run
for POTUS. he is running or would run on an Education plan. When ironically
speaking, LA is one of the worst education states in the USA. maybe that’s why
he needs it but isn’t Arnie Duncan doing well in that position? Plus, I think
the POTUS wants to allow free community college so maybe that’s the issue. I
really do not care what Bobby Jindal has to say. Is that bad? I guess not as
Mika reads off the same criticisms I have with that guy. he is not for education
and for the people. Look at his record. It sucks. he can’t maintain a budget in
his state. His education numbers sucks. He is not that great of a
Governor. His big thing is no different than what its
been for years. Shrink the Gove and boost the private sector. Whatever. His
education costs have risen since he’s been in office. His state is broke. His
state cannot maintain its budgets. Please. He’s a politician. End of story. And,
what does having a better credit rating than say NJ? It is not like NJ is a
thriving state under Chris Christy. They both suck as Governors
being for the people and again, their records are clear and simple. They both
have sucky records in many regards and in both states. I am lost on this
conversation. We are now talking about college football which is a way to divert
any attention to what is real. I am over this segment. I hope it ends sooner
than later. Oh and BTW, saying what has gone on after Katrina is not a platform.
I could have run that state better after Katrina happened. And, what? He just
said that George Bush Jr. did a great job protecting our country. Maybe after
9/11 but that is the dumbest statement ever made by any human with a brain. That
GOP is so fricking linear. They just spew out crap right up to that very minute
where they have to admit they created the mess. OMG. This is the most annoying
segment in a long time. Bobby Jindal is a total idiot. This guy is an
idiot.
I also see that Catherine O’Hara and Eugene levy are on the show. I
also saw they were going to be on the Andy Cohen show late night. They are
promoting some new show. I am sure it will be good with both of them in it. Sch**ts Creek is the name of the sitcom. It looks good.
But this Bobby Jindal conversation has me annoyed because I think the
people in the GOP truly believe those talking points. Because yeah, aside from
the embassy bombings, the ship bombings, the allowing of the hijacking of 3 or 4
planes and then allowing them to be flown into various buildings in NY and in
DC, yeah, (George) Bush Jr. did a great job at protecting our country. And,
aside from (George) Bush Jr. allowing America to go into the worst recession
ever while corrupt financiers bankrupted the USA, yeah, he did a great job as
the POTUS. WTF? I need to end it with that acronym. PS: Some of those tweets sent out whenever by that Jeb Bush IT guy were weird. They don't even make sense. He said something about burping inthe gym and that having to do with something about being gay or showing you are not gay. And, what adult calls a female a slut this day and age? What an odd person. What a loser.
