COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 14 Maryland men’s basketball team hosts Michigan on Senior Day Saturday at noon at XFINITY Center. The game will be nationally-televised on ESPN.

Dez Wells scored 26 points, and No. 14 Maryland held off fifth-ranked Wisconsin 59-53 Tuesday night, ending the Badgers’ 10-game winning streak and ruining their bid to clinch a share of the Big Ten regular-season title. Melo Trimble added 16 points.

• Senior Dez Wells has scored in double-figures in eight straight games, posting 18 points per game during that span. With his 26-point outing against No. 5 Wisconsin, he passed Joe Smith for 25th all-time in career points at Maryland with 1,292.

• Maryland is 17-1 in the friendly confines of the XFINITY Center this season, with its lone loss coming to top-five ranked Virginia on Dec. 3 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. With a win against Michigan, Maryland would complete its first perfect home record in conference play since the 2001-02 season. Saturday’s matchup with Michigan will be Maryland’s second straight sellout at XFINITY.

• The Terps will honor their seven-member senior class which includes Spencer Barks, Jon Graham, Richaud Pack, Varun Ram, Evan Smotrycz, Jacob Susskind, and Dez Wells prior to tipoff versus Michigan.

• Maryland is 9-0 in games decided by six points or less. The Terrapins have won their last four games by a total of 17 points.

• The Terps have been ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for 13 straight weeks, the longest streak since 2002-03 when they were ranked all 19 weeks. Maryland was ranked 73 consecutive weeks from 1999-2003.

Evan Smotrycz will face his former squad when the Wolverines visit XFINITY Center Saturday. The Reading, Mass., native, played in all 69 games at Michigan his freshman and sophomore campaigns before transferring to Maryland in 2012. He earned UM’s Sixth Man Award as a freshman and averaged 7.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per game during his time in Ann Arbor.

Dez Wells scored 26 points, and No. 14 Maryland held off fifth-ranked Wisconsin 59-53 Tuesday night, ending the Badgers’ 10-game winning streak and ruining their bid to clinch a share of the Big Ten regular-season title.

Melo Trimble added 16 points for the second-place Terrapins, who blew an 11-point halftime lead but finished the game with a 12-6
run. Wells moved past Joe Smith at 25th on Maryland’s all-time career scoring list (1,292).

• Maryland led 55-52 before Trimble made a driving layup and was fouled. He missed the free throw, but after Wisconsin misfired twice on the other end, Trimble iced it with a pair of foul shots.
Scouting Michigan
• Michigan defeated Ohio State, 64-57, its last time out to move to 14-13 overall, including a 5-3 mark in conference play. The win snapped a five-game losing skid for the Wolverines which included two overtime losses at Michigan State and at Illinois.

• The Wolverines are led in scoring by Caris LeVert, Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton, Jr., who average 14.9, 13.6 and 10.7 points, respectively.

• Maryland and Michigan are knotted at 3-3 in the all-time series. The Terps have won the last two meetings, defeating the Wolverines 82-51 on Dec. 2, 2000 at the BB&T Classic in Washington, D.C. and 75-70 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 3, 2008.
